Some hogs and a truck were also lost. Allan returned from work leaving the truck on a slope in the lane to change the oil. He went to the house or supper and shortly after the tyre was discovered. The Lucknow Fire Department were soon on hand and protected the Rhody home and another barn. The com- munity is saddened by the less, Allan, Debbie, Matt, Brad and Dawn. Fortunately no one was injured. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nich- olson and Lois went to Mis- sissauga to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Mel King (nee Evelyn Nicholson) who had under- gone major surgery and is convalescing at her home. Lois stayed to be with Evelyn until she feels better. Louisa Schneller of Wing - ham visited on Thursday with former neighbours here. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Eadie, concession 8 and his mother, Ina Eadie of Wingham were guests at the Morrison -Col- well wedding in Sudbury on Saturday. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Slessor of Glammis, Mr. and Mrs. John Rimmelz- waan and family of Purple Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson of Ripley and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Stark of Kincardine. Leonard Stanley of Kin - lough took his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Stanley of Lucknow to Toronto where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Tony Bedford and Ash- ley. Sunday visitors with Edna and May Boyle were Gert- rude Wash of Kincardine and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson of Ripley. linlyreedW ole The Holyrood Women's Institute held their March meeting at the home of Edna Boyle. Mrs. Charles Murray who attended a Seminar at Ches- ley was the guest speaker and gave a fill account of the day which she enjoyed very much. The members receiv- ed a wealth of information From her talk. She was given a gift in appreciation. Mrs. Agnes Hodgins gave the motto, Not everyone can do great things in a big way, but everyone can do small things in a big way. She also gave a humorous reading and conducted a cooking contest. A contest, What it takes to make an Institute, was con- ducted by Mrs. Frank Maul - den, a Nut Quiz by Mrs. Harold Smith and a song contest with the answers taken from pictures, by Edna Boyle. May Royle read some Irish Jokes. The president, Mrs. Lorne Eadie welcomed everyone and told an Irish Joke. The roll call was, bring a written story of your life and a picture of yourself. Mrs. Charles Murray gave a standing committee report on Food Basket. Mrs. Wil- liam MacPherson read the minutes of the February meeting and the correspond- ence, which included a letter from the Wingham and Area Day Care Centre. Agnes Hodgins gave the courtesy remarks and a social time was enjoyed. The directors for the meet- ing were Miss Edna Boyle and Mrs. Agnes Hodgins. Kinlough A.C.W. Mrs. David Haldenby was hostess on Thursday after- noon at her home for the Anglican Church Women's meeting. The roll call was an Easter verse or thought. The Joy of taster was given by Mrs. Bert Nichol- son. Other Easter verses and poems were given by Mrs. Roy Schneller, Mrs. Midford Wall, and Miss May Boyle. Mrs. Agnes Hodgins had the Easter prayer. Mrs. Delbert Hedley pres- ided and opened the meeting with a lovely Easter poem and read the scripture in keeping with the theme. This was followed by prayer and Mrs. Ronald Thacker read the minutes of the previous meeting. Mrs. Roy Collins presided for the program which began with a splendid Easter medi- tation, and a quiz and a eontest on events in the Lord's life before Lent, and during Lent. Mrs. Collins handed each lady a portion to read from Maundy Thursday through until Easter Day. She had made a Simmel Cake which all sampled, Mrs. Delbert Hedley con- ducted a Bible contest, and closed the meeting with prayer Whitechurch community sends congratulations on baby's arrival Hy Valetta Emerson On Tuesday Gertie Tiffin visited with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin and Mrs. Elmer Purdon visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purdon. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. George Lubbers on the arrival at Wingham Hos- pital on Sunday, March 6 of a baby boy, Richard James, a brother for Karen, Brian and Dennis. Visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Millan Moore were Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Moore, Caley and Dil- lon of R. R. 2, Eganville and Muriel Thompson of Wing - ham. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore were in London on Sunday at St. Joseph's Hos- pital visiting with his broth- er, Joe Moore, a patient there recovering from sur- gery. Mr. and Mrs. Walter El- liott and Karen visited with Rev. and Mrs. John Bell at Inverhuron on Sunday. Rosalie Ladner, Sarnia and her son, Allan Ladner of Wingham were Sunday visit- ors with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Milligan. Mr. and Mrs. John de Boer spent the weekend at Strathroy visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson, Ryan and Erin. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fal- coner and Aaron of Brights Grove and her mother spent Sunday with Cassie Mow- bray. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Montgomery and Winnie Vincent of Blyth visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Angus Falconer. Gertrude Tiffin of Wing - ham called on Mr. and Mrs. Vic Emerson and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laid- law were Friday night visit- ors with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Laidlaw of Lucknow. The preacher at the United Church on Sunday was Rev. Pickett of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs, Les Purvis and Isobel Tiffin of Lucknow were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gaunt, Jennifer and Graeme of Chatham were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purdon. Visitors with Mrs. Doris Wilkens were Mr. and Mrs. John Ferguson of Point Clark and Mr, and Mrs, Carl Bender of Listowel. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross and family on Sunday were Mr, and Mrs. George Ross, Mr, and Mrs. Mike Slack, all of Owen Sound. Mrs. Doug Ross and Mike of Wingham, were also present.
