Dungannon agricultural society
sends delegates to convention

Dungannon Agricultural
Society members attended
the Ontario Association of
Agricultural Societies 23rd
annual convention February
16 and 17 at the Royal York
Hotel, Toronto.
Five people from the Dun-
gannon area were in attend-
ance, Caro Nivins, Lynda
McNee, Mary Ann Brindley,
Marj Pentland and Fair
Queen Carol Ann Smyth.
Sessions were held both
days and topics included
effective meetings, manag-
ing societies finances, show-
casing exhibits at fairs, new
ideas for fairs, etc.
Wednesday evening a var-
iety concert was held with
entertainers including The
Family Brown, Mercy Broth-
ers, Leahy Family and Char-
leton Show Band.
Some 104 Fair Queens
were present. They were in-
troduced on stage after the
concert, Dungannon Fair
Queen, Carol Ann will com-
pete for the Miss C.N.E. title
later in the season. She also
sang a solo for the lady
delegates on Thursday morn-
ing. Delegates hope to bring
new attraction to the 1983
Dungannon Fair from the
ideas brought forward at the
convention.

and Mrs. Ron Olson, nee
Darlene Lloyd, who were
married in Sutton, Ontario on
Saturday, Attending from
here were Mr. and Mrs.
Freeman Olson, Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Olson, Bryan and
Amy, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Park, Mr. and Mrs. Steve
Park, Wanda Park and Tim
Hodges and Mr. and Mrs.
Greg Park.
Two afternoon progressive
crokinole parties were held at
the homes of Jim Errington
and Ben Mole in preparation
for the invitation to attend
Lucknow Senior Citizens pro-
gressive crokinole party on
Monday, February 21st.
Congratulatins to Lily Riv-
ett of Clinton who celebrated
her 86th birthday on Feb-
ruary 9. Mrs. Rivett and her
late husband, George lived
here for many years.
Mr, and Mrs. Robert
Schultz, Terry and Tina, R.
R. # 3 Clinton visited with
Amer and Gail Cook and
Kevin on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bendig
and Joel of Goderich spent
Saturday with Bill and Marie
Park and Brad.
Mr. and Mrs, Ben Mole
visited Belle Mole of Luck -
obituary
now in Wingham Hospital on
Sunday afternoon. Belle was
expected to be released on
Monday.
Forty-five Dungannon and
area senior ciitizens and
friends enjoyed a Valentine
smorgasbord pot luck supper
at Brookside Public School on
Wednesday, February 16 fol-
lowed by 15 tables of euchre
in play. Valentine cakes
made by Louise Brindley
were given as prizes for high
lady, Kathleen Glen; low
lady, Gloria Pearson; high
man, Elmer Black; low man,
Harve Alton. A door prize
was won by Dynes Campbell,

The second meeting of the
Dungannon #1 4-H club was
held at Sally Wright's home.
Nancy Carmichael read the
minutes of the first meeting.
The roll call, Have you ever
eaten German or Mennonite
food, was answered by eight
girls.
The members discussed
different cheeses and meats
from a unit in their club
books. They then prepared
Potato Pancakes, Deli Spec-
ial and Dutch Peach Kuchen.
Everyone enjoyed sampling
the dishes.
Wilma [Fraser) Cuming
Wilma J. Cumming of Kit-
chener passed away Sunday,
February 13, 1983 at the age
of 77.
Born May 9, 1905 in' Tor-
onto she was the daughter of
the late William Fraser and
Mary Ellen Ross.
She married Hance Mc-
Knight Cumming in Toronto
on December 28, 1931. She
lived in the Molesworth area
for 26 years before moving to
Kitchener.,
Mrs. Cumming was a
member of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, Kit-
chener.
She is survived by a son,
William J. Cumming of R. 5,
Guelph and a daughter,
Shirley, Mrs. Donald Hackett
of R. 7, Lucknow. A sister,
Helen Manley of Oshawa
also survives as well as nine
grandchildren and four great
granchildren.
She was predeceased by
her parents,
and a brother, Ross Fraser.
The funeral service was
conducted from the Robert
Trench Funeral Home in
Listowel on Wednesday,
February 16, 1983 at 2 p.m.
by Rev. Vern Tozer.
Burial to follow in Moles-
worth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary
Cumming, Keith Cumming,
Michael Hackett, Greg
Blake, Tom Rapson, Ivan
Wattam and Scot Crichton.

Mary Brown
The funeral service for the
late Mrs. Mary Brown of
Ripley and Sarnia was con-
ducted on Monday afternoon
February 7 by Rev. Paul
Parkin of Sarnia at the
MacKenzie McCreath
Funeral Horne in Ripley.
Spring burial will be in the
Ripley Cemetery. The
former Mary Steele,
daughter of William Steele
and Ada Jane Walden, she
passed away on Friday, Feb.
4, 1983 in the University
Hospital in London at the age
of 59. She was predeceased
by her husband Doug Brown
and her parents. Surviving
are her sister Minnie, Mrs.
Ackermann of Hayward,
California; and three
brothers - Wilfrid of the 2nd
concession west in Huron
township, Bruce of Forest,
and Gordon of Lucknow;
also her foster daughter
Joanne Ledbetter of London;
also several nephews and
nieces. Sympathy is extend-
ed to all the family at this
time of bereavement.
Walter Collins
Walter Collins of Purple
Grove died on Friday
February 11, 1983 in the
Princess Court Home on
Princes Street in Kincar-
dine. At age 76 Walter was
born on Thursday Dec. 20,
1906, in Huron township and
his parents were the late
Charles Collins and Joanne
McDonald. The funeral ser-
vice conducted by Rev.
Philip Ruch of St. Paul's
Anglican Church in Ripley
was held on Monday after-
noon February 14 at the
MacKenzie McCreath
Funeral Horne in Ripley.
Spring burial will be in the
Ripley cemetery. Surviving
are his two sisters Margaret,
Mrs. Harry Graham and
Mrs. Ruth Colwell both of
Kincardine. Sympathy is ex-
tended to the family.
Melissa Irene: Mt,rgan
The death of Miss Melissa
Irene Morgan occurred last
Friday, February 18, 1983, in
the Kincardine and District
Hospital. Born on Wednes-
day Nov. 9, 1898, in the
Ripley area, likely conces-
sion 10 east, Irene was in her
85th year and her parents
were the late Henry and An-
nie Morgan. The funeral ser-
vice at the Davey-I,inklater
Funeral Home on Princes
Street in Kincardine was
held on Monday afternoon
this week Feb. 21 with Rev..
Gerald Paul of Kincardine
United Church officiating.
Spring burial will be in Kin-
cardine Cemetery'. She is
survived by one sister Hazel,
Mrs. Wellington Campbell of
Kincardine and two brothers
Elmer of Scarborough and
Rov of Kincardine; also one
niece Betty (Morgan) ; Mrs.
Bryan Kerman of Scar-
borough, two great nieces
Kim and Renee Kerman and
one great nephew Jeoffrey
Kerman all of Scarborough.
She was predeceased by
three sisters Vera, Verna.
and Priscilla and one
brother Reid. Sympathy is
extended at this time of
bereavement.
