Outlaws attend tourney
The sound of the Outlaws
shots shattered the still air of
the Windsor arena. Unfor-
tunately at the end of their
two games the Outlaws hop-
es were also shattered. It was
especially shattering for
Brad Aitchison.
The Outlaws first game of
the tournament was played
very early Saturday morning
against a team from Detroit.
The Outlaws played a fast
game and at the end of
regulation time the score was
tied at two a piece.
The two teams played in
overtime, with four men on
each side. The game was full
of excitement. The Outlaws
could not score, fortunately
the other team could not
either.
The game then proceeded
into sudden death. During
this time, one of our key
players, Mike McDonagh
was hurt. Thanks to Wayne
McDonagh's emergency pro-
cedures Mike was taken to
the hospital to be checked
out. He was released Satur-
day morning. Mike's accid-
ent however shook up the
Outlaws to some extent and
the opponents managed to
score first. Lucknow scorers
were Perry (Metric) Hauck
and Tim Martin.
Lucknow's second game of
the tournament was played
early Sunday morning ag-
ainst a team called the
"Traders".
With the strong cheer-
leading of the fans, the Out-
laws were inspired to score
first. Mike Hackett set up
Tim Martin, who slipped it
past the opposition's goalie.
The Outlaws managed to
keep the "Traders" off the
scoreboard until the final one
minute and 12 seconds, when
the Traders tied it up 1 - 1.
Like the first game, this
game also went into sudden
death overtime. It was a
heart shattering experience
for the Outlaws and their
fans because after all of their
hard work, the Traders scor-
ed first.
This second defeat elimin-
ated the Outlaws from furth-
er competition. Despite their
defeat, the Outlaws played
extremely well and they cer-
tainly had a good time,.
Special mention goes to
Dan Hartin who played great
defensive and offensive
Broomball in both games.
Another strong performance
was given by Tim Martin.
Overall, the Outlaws were
pleased with the outcome of
the tournament. They played
well and gained some more
experience which is vital for
every good broomball team if
they want to succeed. The
Outlaws are looking forward
to next year already.
The Outlaws are now con-
centrating on playing as well
in their regular league gam-
es. They will soon be starting
their playoffs. Good luck,
Outlaws!
