South Kinloss
The February meeting of
the South Kinloss W.M.S.
was held February 2, 1983 at
the home of Mrs. Hoary Lavis
with the president, Mrs.
Evan Keith presiding. She
opened the meeting with a
reading on "Giving" follow-
ed by prayer.
Mrs. Frank MacKenzie
presented the Bible Study
based on Femininity and
Your Emotions. Members of
the group answered ques-
tions dealing with the moles,
strengths and priorities and
spiritual gifts of women.
The offertory prayer was
given by Mrs. Harold How-
ald. The prayer circle follow-
ed with Mrs. Herb Buckton,
Mrs. John Mowbray and
Mrs. Frank MacKenzie lead-
ing in prayer.
The roll call, a verse on
gift, was answered by 14
members,
Mrs. Harry Levis gave an
S study islands
informative report of the
annual meeting of the Mait-
land Presbyterial held in
Wingham January 17.
Mrs. Harold Howald intro-
duced the second unit of the
Study Book. By the use of
posters and maps she re-
viewed the geography, racial
and cultural backgrounds of
the people in the South
Pacific Islands. The Christian
Church in this area is trying
to help these people deal
with modern problems and at
the same time Md in retain-
ing the islanders' customs
and cultures.
Mrs. Frank MacKenzie
gave the courtesy remarks.
The closing prayer was given
by Mrs. John Mowbray. The
directors. Mrs. Harold How-
ald, Mrs. Frank MacKenzie
and hostess, Mrs, Harry
Levis, served lunch and a
social half hour was enjoyed.
Trinty UC Wsee slide presentation
On Thursday, February 10
Trinity U.C.W, met at the
home of Mrs. Russell Irvin.
The meeting began with a
casserole dinner, made from
the recipes in the book put
out by the Ministry of
Agriculture and Food,
"More Cents Than Dollars".
Following the meal, the
two leaders, Mrs. Steve And-
rew and Mrs. Harvey Ritchie
discussed the book, and
helped the ladies Fill out the
questionaire to be handed in.
Mrs. Cliff Kilpatrick mov-
ed a vote of thanks to the two
leaders.
The regular meeting was
then called to order by the
president, Mrs. Ken Alton,
with a poem.
Mrs. L. Menary and Mrs.
A. Hackett were in charge of
devotions. Mrs. Menary read
the scripture. Mrs. Hackett
led in prayer, and then gave
the meditation, Where Does
Time Go, assisted by Mrs.
Menary.
Mrs. Charles Wilkins led
the Bible Study on Genesis.
Mrs. Murray Irvin gave the
Mission Study on the South
Pacific Islands, stating 85 per
cent of the population there
is Christian.
Mrs. Warren Zinn assisted
by showing slides on the
South Pacific. Mrs. D. A,
Hackett read two poems,
February and Life's Mirror.
The president explained
the Fellowship of the Least
Coin, and a small collection
was taken. Follov-ing the
business the meeting closed
with a hymn and a prayer. A
dainty lunch was served by
the committee in charge.

Lucknow institute donate E500 to firemen
Grace Gibson opened her
home to the ladies of the
Lucknow Institute for their
February meeting. A dessert
and tea was enjoyed by 23
members and three visitors.
A film on the Life Cyte of a
Plant, was shown, Stuart
Collyer ran the film and all
were very interested in see-
ing how the cultivation of a
plant in this instance, a
tomato, provides man with a
delicious fruit.
George Whitby spoke to
the ladies on the "page
system" for the firemen.
Mrs. Whitby chaired the
meeting for the program in
the absence of Mrs. John
Collinson.
Mrs. Ross Cumming gave
the motto, Agriculture is the
HOCKEY TEAM

of industry. A sing song was
conducted by Mrs. Harvey
Webster. A reading, My
Valentine, was given by Mrs.
Yoeman. A reading, Forget-
fulness, by Mrs. Stonehouse
was much enjoyed.
Mrs. Gibson took over for
the business and read a
poem, Treasures of the
Heart. It was decided to
refinish the institute's piano
and the ladies voted to
donate $SRO to the firemen to
purchase the page system.
Tickets are to be sold on a
quilt and the Lucky winner
will be announced at the In-
stitute's 75th anniversary in
June.
Mrs. Gibson thanked all
who took part in the meeting.
