Community extends sympathy to bereaved families

This community extends
its sympathy to the friends
and relatives of the lane
Mamie Currie, who passed
away January 24 in Wing -
ham. She was well known
here, having been active
member of the Whitechurch
Women's Institute.
The community also ex-
tends sympathy to Mrs, Art
(Florence) Farness in the
passing of her brother, Ed-
ward Finlay on January 26.
This community extends
their sympathy to the rela-
tives and friends of the late
Mrs. Emma (McInnes) Pette -
place, whose funeral was
held on Sunday.
Heather Currie of Toronto
spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
A. Currie.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin of
Wingham visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs, Bevin
Tiffin, Dean and Stephen.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Du -
charge of Goderich visited
Monday with her patients,
Mr.. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Don-
nelly, Angela and. Jill of
Toronto were Sunday visitors
with her patents, Mr. and
Mrs. Wallace Milligan.
Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Mc-
Clenaghan of St. Thomas
visited on the weekend with
his mother, Mrs. Maty Mc-
Clenaghan and Mr. and Mrs.
Carl McClenaghan.
Faye Irwin was home from
Seaforth to visit with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Or-
land Irwin.
Mrs. McGlynn, Wayne
and Janet of Kitchener visit-
ed with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Tiffin and Joey and
called on Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
McGlynn.
Mrs. Joe Tiffin spent a few
days in Goderich when little
Joey Snowden was in Goder-
ich Hospital with a heavy
cold,
The regular meeting of the
Musicians Executive was
held in Stratford on Sunday
and Joe Tiffin attended from
here.

the visitation at Stratford
funeral home for Mrs. Norm-
an Carnegie who passed
away suddenly.

Members of Whitechurch
United Church held their
annual meeting in the base-
ment of the church on Feb-
ruary I.
Rev. Rea Grant opened the
meeting with scripture fol-
lowed by prayer.
Mrs. Dave Gibb was ap-
pointed secretary. She read
the minutes which were ad-
opted.
The financial and M & S
report was given by the
treasurer, Mrs. Dave Gibb
and the U.C.W. report was
given by Mrs. Russel Chap-
man.

held their February meeting
at the home of Mrs. Russel
Chapman on Wednesday,
February 2. The topic was
the Islands of the Pacific.
Mrs. Chapman read the
scripture. Mrs. Dave Gibb
read an article on the Fiji
Islands.
The roll call was answered
by eight members, naming a
present day leader of influ-
ence.
Mrs. Muriel Thompson
told of a nurse, Eunice Ray,
who went to the islands of
the South Pacific.
Muriel Thompson dosed
with prayer.

The first meeting of the
4-H club project, Ontario
Heritage was held at the
home of Mrs. Walter Elliott
on January 29.
The election of officers
resulted in president, Cathy
Dow; vice president, Karen
Elliott; secretary, rotating;
press reporter, Kendra Pur -
don. Other members are Kim
Laidlaw, Celia Chandler, and
Marilyn Jamieson. Leaders
are Mrs. Elliott and Mrs.
Archie Purdon.
Mrs. Elliott gave the intro-
duction to the club and
demonstrated the recipes,
pumpkin soup, Scotch eggs.
Irish soda bread and Maple
baked apples. Mrs. Purdon
led the discussion on The
Native People and the early
settlers.
Dungannon couples attend funeral in Cambridge

Jim and Margaret Erring-
ton and Elmer and Aileen
Trommer attended funeral
services on Tuesday in Cam-
bridge for a former neigh-
bour, Mel Markle.
Bessie McNee is a patient
in Wingham Hospital as a
result of a heart attack suf-
fered last Thursday after-
noon.
Nathan Whitney is also a
patient in Wingham Hospit-
al. He was admitted on
January 31 with the flu.

Aldham in Goderich and
Mary Bere and other family
members in Dungannon on
the weeke d.
Bill and Marie Park, Todd
and Brad, Gertie Park and all
the members of the family
were at Val and Mike Ben -
dig's home in Goderich on
Sunday to help Joel celebrate
his first birthday.
Sympathy is extended to
Mrs. Thomas Dickson and all
the members of the family on
the death of Mr. Dickson in
Goderich hospital on Sunday
morning.
The Dungannon and Nile
Youth Group are showing the
film, Pippi on the South Seas
at Brookside School on Sat-
urday.
There were 10 tables of
euchre played at Brookside
on Wednesday night. The
high lady score was Isabel
Kilpatrick. Low lady was
Delores Culbert. High man
score was Harvey Alton, Low
man's score Fred Ward.
Lucky cup winner was Max-
ine Pollock.
The seniors group will be
celebrating Valentine Day

with a pot luck supper on
February 16 at Brookside
School. A euchre party will
follow.

Dungannon Women's In-
stitute met at Myrtle Kerr's
home on February 2.
Guest speaker was Jean
Lobb who gave an interesting
travel talk and showed slides
on her trip to Ireland. While
in Ireland she enjoyed a visit
with Mollie Whiteside, who
was a most gracious goodwill
ambassador for Ireland dur-
ing Dungannon's 125th
birthday in 1980.
Plans were also discussed
on a dessert euchre to be
held during the winter break
at Brookside School.
