Unit 4
Unit 4 of Lucknow United
Church Women met for their
monthly meeting on Tues-
day, February 1. Mrs. Jack
Treleaven chaired the meet-
ing and Mrs. Goctlon Brooks
read a Valentine verse.
The theme for devotions
was the completeness of
God's love. Readers included
the program committee,
Mrs. Warren McDougall.
Mrs. Ivan Conley, Mrs.
Brooks and Mrs. Treleaven.
They each in turn dealt with
freedom, growth, decision
and support. Mrs. Conley
closed the devotions with
prayer.
Two musical numbers by
Mrs. Bert Moffat and Mrs.
Ivan Conley on piano and
banjo were much enjoyed.
Mrs. Bill Bogues, unit
leader, conducted the busi-
ness. Reports were given by
the treasurer, Mrs. Ken
Cameron; social action con-
vener, Mrs. Stuart Collyer;
community friendship, Mrs.
Graydon Ritchie; social func-
tions, Mrs. George Joynt and
amnesty, Mrs. Gordon Cay -
ley.

Volleyball
On Tues., Feb. 6, the
Senior and Junior girls
volleyball teams travelled to
Chesley. Here they played
Bruce Peninsula and
Chesley.
Fitness Testing
Grade's 11 and 12 Physical
Education classes are in the
process of testing their
fitness abilities. The equip-
ment was obtained from the
Board of Education. Some of
the tests include stair climb-
ing, hand strength, fat
measurement, shoulder
strength, leg strength and
back strength.
New Semester
Last Tuesday was the
beginning of a new semester.
Many new students have
been sighted in the halls and
classrooms. R.D.S.
welcomes these students!
Juveniles defeat Ripley
Kent Alton scored two
goals and added two assists
to lead the Lucknow Juven-
iles to a 5 - 3 win over Ripley
on Friday night in the last
game of the regular season
schedule.
Lucknow held a 4 - 2 lead
late in the second period
when Ripley was awarded a
penalty shot. however good
stand up goaltending by
Jerry Searle prevailed.
Ripley scored just 35 sec-
onds into the third period but
Art Clark's goal with less
than five minutes remaining
insured the win. Other goal
scorers for Lucknow were
George Alton and Glen Bay-
nard.
Lucknow finished the sea-
son on an unbeaten streak
stretching back to Christmas,
and now advance to the
O.M.H.A. championship.
The quarter finals begin in
three weeks and will see
Lucknow face the winner of
the Erin-Thamesford series.
