In Ripley, the home team scored first and held a 2 - I lead early in the second, but Lucknow took over in the second and dominated the third on route to a 5 - 2 win. Lucknow scorers were: Darren McKim from Irwin and Gilchrist; Chris Collyer from Priestap and Hackett; Dan Gilchrist from Irwin and McKim; Chris CbAyer from Priestap and Hackett and Dan Gilchrist from Irwin and S. Murray. At Howie& on Friday night, the home team again scored first, a power play marker early in the game but from that point on, Lucknow did all the scoring as they skated to an 8 - 1 victory. Purple Grove folk attend 80th birthday A number of folks from Purple Grove attended an eightieth birthday "off house" for ° Mrs. Gladys Mason on Sunday at Huron Villa in Ripley. Friends of Mr. Walter Col- lins are song to hear he has been transferred from Kin- cardine Hospital to Universi- ty Hospital it London. The February meeting of Purple Grove Women's In- stitute will be held in the evening at seven thirty in- stead of in the afternoon at Fran Farrell's home. Joanne Pollock and friends from Toronto visited last weekend at the home of her parents, Wallace and Elaine Pollock. Kerry Boyle has gone to Quebec city where she is etnployed as an Enghsh tutor. Donald . and Sandra Forster and children visited on Sunday with Don and Anne McCosh for dinner. • Sympathy is extended to the Mason and Colwell families of this area due to the accidental death on Fri- day of Ken Mason son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mason of Vanderhoof B.C. Donald and Aima Gillies entertained Oraen, Doris and Ron Rock for supper on Thursday evening. Ian and Meagan Mac- Donald attended a third bir- thday party on Thurs. for Jennifer MacDonald at the home of her parents Jean and Ian MacDonald in Ripley. Returning home from a holiday in Las Vegas were Sandy and Marg Pollock, Larry and Marianne Irwin and Wayne and Debbie Arm- s Ivan and Joan McFarlane were recent visitors with Don and Tiny Robertson and Wilda and Harvey Thomp- son also visited the Robert- son's on Thursday evening. Callers with Don and Betty Bushell on Wednesday even- ing were Don and Tiny Robertson. Linda Thomp- son of Scarborough spent the weekend with his parents Harvey and Wilda Thomp- son. Wilda also visited in Kincardine with her aunt, Mrs. Mary Stewart, last week. Jim Needham and Jim Farrell attended a meeting at Merton on Friday for the Zone Directors of the Hols- tein Friesian Association. Jnn and Fran Farrell, Christina and Carmen visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Derk Logtenberg and family at Dungannon. Homefrom Australia to spend Christmas By May Boyle Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Mc- Lean of Adelaide, Australia were home for Christmas and a holiday with Bevan's moth- er, Sadie McLean at Kincar- dine and with JoAnn's moth- er at Hanover. On the weekend before the McLeans had to return to Australia, Bevan drove to Kinlough to have a visit at the place of his childhood (McLean's General Store) now owned by Mr. Reg Powell, where he has done much rer'idelling and has a most interesting collection of books, cards and stamps, known as the Queens Bush Stamp Collection building. Bevan was just intrigued with a tour of the home which recalled many memories and also seeing the excellent stamp collection and inter- esting cards and books. His only regret "gas that he couldn't sta' longer, he enjoyed it so much. It made him a bit late for a cross country ski outing he and JoAnn were taking with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stanley of Ripley to the slopes near Hanover.
