Lucknow opened the scor- ing early in the first period on a goal by John Faber but trailed the rest of the way until the last few minutes of the third period. With 2.07 left, Faber scored his second goal of the game making it 6 - 5. Ripley. Robbie Beirnes was pulled from the Lucknow goal for an extra attacker at 1.15 on the clout and with 31 seconds re- maining; Jeff Burgsma bang- ed in the equalizer from a scramble in front of the net. Other goal scorers for Lucknow were Darin Lindsay with two and Jamie Hum- phrey. one. The boys played a fine game and deserved the tie. On Saturday, January $ against Wingham. Lucknow failed to recover from a 3 -0 first period deficit. The final score 6 - 2 however was not indicative of the fast pace and good action the game provided. Down 5 - 1 late in the third period, Wayne Burgsma hit the goal post and Jim Jurjens narrowly missed a break away opportunity. Darin Lindsay scored both goals for Lucknow. Again the Bantam "Bs" played a strong game but lost for the first time against Wingham this season. Juveniles beat league leading Ripley The Lucknow Juveniles started off the New Year on a winning note, January 2, as they coasted to a 7 - 2 win over the league leading Ripley team. The Juveniles, who have been struggling all season at the bottom of the league, came out of their defensive shell and concentrated on offense to take their second win of the year. This game also marked the goaltending debut of Paul Jerome, who moved up from the Midget team. Paul turn- ed away a number of shots throughout the game and held Ripley to just two goals. On Sunday, January 9. Don Greer scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Juveniles to their second consecutive win as Lucknow downed Wiarton by a score of 7 - 1.
