Debbie Allan of Toronto Santa's sleigh needed wheels to liver presents in St. Helens By Kathryn Todd Just prior to the Christmas Holidays, the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Cranston was placed on the founda- tion. The crane lifted off the ground when the house was being lowered which caused it to be dropped onto the foundation. No damage was done to the home, but a job that was to take an hour turned into an all day adven- ture, since the house was too heavy for the crane to lift properly. Santa indeed had to get out the wheels for Christmas Eve in order to make the rounds in St. Helens. On Christmas morning the re- corded temperature in the Village was 12 degree C. (54 degrees F). This temperature broke all previous records dating back to 1892. Anyone travelling during the holi- days had little difficulty get- ting around. Christmas Eve visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Todd were Mr. and Mrs. John Siecker Jr. and Rob Siecker of Owen Sound. and Mr. and Mrs. John Siecker Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Cran- ston spent Boxing Day with Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Hunt and family of Elmira. This is the first time their son, Murray has been home for Christmas in two years. Previous Christ- mases were spent in Ireland and out West.
