north of Ripley on their
way to church at Bervie
when they noticed a.
strange object. It was
lying just off the east side
of the pavement and
south of Wally and Elaine
Pollock's home place on
the 15th. It turned out to
be a radiosonde or
weather balloon.
Paul gathered it up
with all its attached parts
and put on the back seat
of their car. On going to
-their car after the service
they found the car filled
with the smell of rotten
egg gas or hydrogen
sulphide H2S and had to
open the doors to get rid
of the smell.
Paul then put it into the
trunk and brought it back
to Ripley. ,The parachute
