Christmas Concert in Whitechurch

The United Church Sunday
School concert was held on
Friday evening. The opening
carol was Come All Ye Faith-
ful. Kim Laidlaw gave the
opening recitation. The choir
sang See Amid the Winter
Snow and Drummer Boy.
Lisa Chapman sang Away
In a Manger. Allison Ward-
rop gave a recitation. Cindy
Moore and Kim Laidlaw sang
Little Donkey.
The U.C.W. put on a play,
Tips and Tithes, with Mrs.
Dave Gibb, narrator; Mrs.
Russ Chapman, waitress;
Mrs. Burrows, usher, and
Mrs. Lorne Durnin and Mrs.
Fred. Tiffin, the couple.
The next play was, Christ-
mas Memories, with Jack
Whytock on violin; Janet
Laidlaw, clarinet; Mrs. Durn-
in, harp; and Mrs. Farrier,
pianist,. played Angels from
the Realms of Glory and Star
of the East. Karen Laidlaw
gave, a',piano solo.
Lisa Chapman gave a
recitation, Two Merry Blue
Eyes. Oh How We Eat, was
played by Kenny ` Quipp,
CalvQ:uipp, Jack Whytock
and Rrehard Moore
The blight Before Christ-
mas was played by Murray
Gibb, Karen Quipp, Linda
Moore, Kim Laidlaw, Lisa
Chapman and Cindy Moore.
Jack Whytock on violin play-
ed There's a Song in the Air
and Shepherds from the
Field Abiding.
The Nativity Play cast
included Nancy Quipp, Cal-
vin Quipp, Richard Moore
and Ken Quipp. The choir
sang, 'Twas the moon of
Wintertime, Holly Jolly
Christmas 'and We Wish You
a Merry Christmas.
Santa. Claus then arrived
with gifts for all, bringing
happiness to all the Sunday
School children.
Jane Laidlaw of London
spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elroy
Laidlaw.
Mrs. Stewart of Wingham
visited on the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Snow-
den and Bill Jr. of Goderich
were Saturday visitors with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Tiffin.
Christmas folks at the
family party of Mrs. Ben
McClenaghan and Mr. and
Mrs. Carl McClenaghan on
Sunday, were Mr. and Mrs.
Harry, Moss of Plattsville,
Susie Moss., Newmarket and
friend, Bob Bere, Barrie; Mr.
and Mrs. Irwin McClenag=

Visitors during the week
with Mrs. Gershom John-
ston, Wingham, were Mts.
Gary Black and Jeffery, of
Clinton, prior to leaving for
Victoria, B.C., to spend
Christmas with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth John-
ston. Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Johnston and Donna of St.
Pauls also visited his mother
last week. ;,,.
The Presbyterian Sunday
School children are excited
over seeing Santa Claus this
Friday evening at the Sunday
Scho611 concert.
CHALMERS W.M.S.
The Christmas meeting of
Chalmers W.M.S. was held
Tuesday, December 12 at the
home of Mrs. Harvey Os-
borne. Mrs. Victor Emerson
opened the meeting with a
Christmas poem. All sang
Joy to the World with Mrs.
Osborne pianist.
The Announcement to the
Shepherds and the Presenta-
tion of Jesus, was read by
Mrs, Emerson. A reading,
"This Christmas Night" was
given by Mrs. Osborne. The
reading, The Inn, was given
by Mrs. Don Ross. Mrs. Bill
Evans gave a Christmas
Prayer. Mrs. Wesley Tiffin
told Why the Wise Men
came to Worship Christ.
Mrs. John de Boer told of the
Many- Christmas- Blessings.
The topic, The Invisible
Christmas Tree, was given
by Mrs. Bill Evans. The
offering was received and
dedicated by Mrs. Evans.
The minutes were read by
Mrs. Bill Purdon.
The president, Mrs. Don
,Ross, and the secretary,
Mrs. Purdon, had charge of
the business.
A collection was received
to buy gifts for 3 men and 2
ladies at Lucknow Nursing
Home who had no close
relatives. It was decided to
send boxes to the shut ins. -
Mrs. Pardon gave. the
report of the `cards 'sent •
during the year.
LADIES AID
The, Ladies Aid Then held
their meeting. The presid-
ent, • Mrs... John _ de .Boer,
asked to have her book
audited. The collection was
received and . the financial
statement given.
The meeting closed with
prayer.
