hdspital on Thursday,
wish him Well.
The couples club met at
Mr and Mrs Cecil Sut-
ton's on Sunday evening
to have a Carol Sing.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Elliott visited with Mr.
and Mrs Frank Maulden
on Wednesday evening.
Miss Corinne Boyle
spent the weekend with
her sister Bonnie in
London. Miss Heather
Boyle was home for the
week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Norval
Stanley visited with
Isabel's mother in
Wiarton
Mr. Wayne Rhody got
home from Owen Sound
hospital on Friday after
spending a week or more.
Mr. and Mrs Don
Robertson, Mr. and Mrs.
Don Reid spent Tuesday
evening with Mr and Mrs
Wm. MacPherson.

Club, Ripley held a
dinner Dec, 8 at the
United Church where the
ladies of the UCW catered
to 96 people, The
christmas dinner was
especially good ac-
cording to comments
overheard. They were
thanked by Mrs. Elliott.
Mrs. Frank Fair was in
charge of the program as
chairlady. She opened by
reading a Christmas
Prayer, This was
followed by a sing -song of
Christmas Carols led by
Reg Moore with Mrs.
MacKenzie at the piano:
Reg was really pleased
with the singing. Then a
farewell song was sung
by the directors of 1978 to
the outgoing directors
namely Mrs. Shields and
Frank Scott. Another
song followed to the in-
coming directors Mrs.
Geo. Sutherland and Mr.
Jim Tout. g°
A scripture lesson, the
Christmas story was
ready by Red Godfrey.
Mrs. W.J. MacKay told
of Christmas customs in
different parts of Canada.
Some of these we were
not aware of.
Jack Scott read a very
good account of Santa's
Romance with, Mrs.
Santa, quite humorous.
Mr. Lloyd Arnold gave
a couple of mouth organ
numbers and was ac-
companied by his wife.
Mrs. Gladys Huston
read a poem -"If Jesus
Comes to your house,"
reminding us of the true
meaning of Christmas. A
group of ladies namely -
Mrs. Lock, Mrs. Blue,
Mrs. Kirkpatrick, Mrs.
Joe Scott, Mrs. Gemmell
Mrs. Sutherland, Mrs.
J.A. McDonald, Mrs.
Fair, Mrs. Rita Irwin,
Mrs. Cumming, Mrs.
Finlayson sang three
numbers - Winter
Wonderland, Frosty the
Snowman and Silver
Bells.
Mrs. Stewart Needham
read a poem called
"Keep the Christ in
Christmas" composed by
the late Mary Stinson
whom many will recall as
a registered nurse in
Ripley. Mary was greatly
beloved by this village
where she worked so hard
especially during the first
flu epidemic.
Mrs. Donald McCosh
gave the courtesy
remarks and closed off
with a. comical poem. The
purple bean to eat at
Christmas, the purple
bean being a restaurant.
Mrs. Fair closed the
meeting.
