Cathy MacKinnon takes over as secretary from Pat Livingston and Kevin Austin is the new manager, replacing Cliff Livingston. The new executive of the Lancers hope the people of Ldcknow and the surround- ing area will continue, to support the Lancers, as they have in the past. The team is grateful for past support and looks forward to the continu- ed support of their fans under their new manage- ment. House League Darin Lindsay scored twice to lead the Canadiens to a 2 - 1 victory over the Red Wings, in House League hockey action at the arena on Saturday. John Husk scored for the Wings. The Black Hawks and Maple Leafs played to a 2 all tie, on goals scored by Scott Hackett for the Hawks and Steve Machan and Pat Frayne for the Leafs. The Bruins whomped the Rangers 6 - 2, when Steve Frayne scored 4 times for the Bruins. The other two Bruin goals were made by John Hopf and Steve Errington. Jim VanOsch and Morris VanOsch scored for the Ran- gers- KINLOSS MIXED BOWLING LEAGUE High man Don Farrish with a single of 253 and a triple of 643. Ripley District ELEMENTARY NEWS BY LORI ROBERTS AND KAREN LAWRENCE On December 4 pupils were all absent from school because it was a Professional Activity Day. Parents came and talked to the teachers about their children's pro- gress in school. On December 7th, needles were given by the Health Nurse. A Christmas Dinner is being held on the 19th of December. It will be prepar- ed by Mrs. Wylds and Mrs. Barnes. Tickets have to be in by December 13. There will be turkey, potatoes, corn, pop or chocolate milk. Girls' hockey has started once again this year. Every Friday at lunch time the girls play at the arena. House League volleyball has started for girls and boys. The girls play every Tuesday and Thursday. The boys play every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Each student from c art 'i was taken out of class for a brush -in. All students got a check up on their flossing by Mrs. Debbie Scott. The chocolate coated al- monds and mixed nuts are selling very- well. SECONDARY NEWS BY MARY KEMPrON AND ANN COURTNEY SPORTS The Junior Girls' basket- ball team and` the Junior Boys' basketball team travel- led to Walkerton on Satur- day, December 9th. 'Both teams were defeated but they will be busy practising for their interschool games. Good luck goes to both teams for the next games.. The Grade 11 Phys Ed class is playing hockey from 9.00 to 10.10 at the arena this week from Monday to Wed- nesday. The rest of the week they will be playing broom - ball. Thank you to Mr. Brown for organizing this. FUND RAISING This year's fund raising campaign is over with Level V's selling the most candy and peanuts. The reward for this is a free Kentucky Fried Chicken Dinner. Congratu- lations Level V and enjoy your meal! The money made will be put towards the sound system for the gym. With these expenses out of the way, Jaynt wants to put this money into the road progratn, which will allow the bulk of the village road work to be completed over the next two years. Joynt said that no final decision could be made by council until the January meeting, because he is still awaiting the approval of the increase in the subsidy from the Ministry of Transporta,- tion and Commu ni atiom.
