Mildmay came in on Monday and won the game in the first two periods, After the break, the boys staged a comeback attempt but it was a case of too little, too late. Scoring for Lucknow in the third were Jeff Gibson, unassisted, and Chris Collyer from John D. MacKenzie and Chris Irwin. Final score, Mildmay 3, Lucknow 2. On Wednesday, the boys headed to Ripley determined to play three full periods of hockey. The players seemed to remember Ripley's 7 - 3 victory, the last time the teams met. The boys played excellent defensive hockey and skated to a well-earned victory. Chris Collyer , opened the scoring midway through the second, assisted by Chris Irwin. and Jeff Gibson. Chris Irwin added the insurance: marker in the third;- assisted by Chris Collyer and Brad Priestap. The shut -out was recorded by Todd Scharbach who bad a steady game, between the pipes and Rick Bechard, our team heavy -weight, was aw- arded First Star of the game by the coach for his checking role. The big game of the week was Saturday's rematch ag- ainst the London Red Circle Selects. The boys were def- initely "up" for the game_: and treated their fans to their best game of the season, so far. The London boys, who were chosen from several jlouse league teams, were determined to make amends for the 3 - 1 loss in the last game and definitely showed more signs of playing togeth- er as a team. The Lucknow lads played a great game with good posi- tional play and good passing. The London boys were more prepared for our passing game but the Lucknow boys proved again that team play is solid hockey: The local lads weathered an early penalty, the only one in a clean game, and had several good scoring chances in the, and second periods. But close doesn't count and it was Jeff Camp- bell of London who opened the scoring at 4.12 of the second. At that point, some people wondered if Lucknow's chan- ces had been missed, but CBC went to work and in 22 seconds tied the game on a goal by Chris Collyer, assist- ed by Chris Irwin and Brad Priestap. The only socring in the third period was a Lucknow goal by Dean Dickson. The whole line worked hard to keep the puck in the zone, and when the London goalie thought he had the pack, Dean proved otherwise. In the third period, the boys began to show signs of being outnumbered on the bench but great goal tending and team effort held them in the game.. Although the team had 13 Stars, special mention goes to Richard MacDonald for a lot of ice . time . on defense and Todd Scharlach for excellent goal tending. The final score Lucknow 2., London 1. Congratulations team! Lancers lose two games The Lancers played the Goderich Sailors on Decem- ber 8 for the first time this year and came away with an 8 - 4 loss, but the score is no clue to how close the game really was. ' The first period was all Goderich as they scored three unanswered goals, and held this lead in the second, until Stanley scored from the face-off, unassisted. MacKenzie then scored to make it 3 - 2, with an assist going to Stevenson. Goderich scored to make it 4 - 2, but Lucknow . clearly outplayed the .league leading Sailors for the second period. Only great goaltending and luck stopped the local boys from blowing the Sailors right out The third period was fairly even as both teams scored early and Goderich had a 5 - 3, lead, Goderich then scored two fairly quick goals to make it 7 - 3, but MacKenzie replied for Lucknow, to bring the score a little closer at 7 - 4. Then as luck would have it, Graham Hamilton scored on a breakaway to make the final • score -8 - 4. Graham used to play for Lucknow at one- ` time, but moved to Goderich and is playing for the Sailors now. PLAY HARRISTON On Sunday night the Har- riston Blues came to town and skated off with a 10 - 4 victory. In this *game the local boys scored first, but could not hold on as Harriston scored two goals, to hold a 2 - 1 lead after one. Lucknow's goal was scored by Jim Murray, with the assist going to Ian Montgomery. In the second, Lucknow scored three goals, but Har- riston scored four, to take a 5 - 4 lead into the third. Lucknow goal scorers were Stanley from Sheddon, Shed - don unassisted and Kevin Murray from brother, Jim, and Stanley. Harriston, :as they scored five goals to skate away with the 10 - 4 win. The Lancers first 50-50 draw was held on Sunday evening and was won . by Joan Livingston. SAILORS COMING The Sailors are coming to Lucknow this Sunday for a rematch. Despite their loss in Goderich, the local lads feel it is within their power to defeat the Sailors, so come out to, the Sunday game to cheer on the Lancets.
