Zyluk said that the Huron Roman Catholic Scheol Board showed support for the concept and designated the Kingsbridge School as a comminntry settee/L, so they could apply for the grant. Smith chainnan of Bruce Board At the inaugural meeting of the Bruce bounty Beard of Education held in Chesley. December 5„ 1978, Albert Smith of Tober- me Ty was elected chairman of the board. Born in Tobermory, Albert Smitb attended 1 there and lafer apprenticed in en- gineering with the Ontario Department of Highways. Further studies resulted in a concentration in civil engineering. Subsequently he became assistant Town- ship Engineer for the Township of Atikokan for three years before joining the engin- eering staff of Steep Rock Iron Mines in,the same area. While at Atilrokan he served as a public school trustee of a board that was formed to organize an elementary school in the Thunder Bay district. Relater moved to southern Ontario where he became project supervisor for firms of consulting engineers, first in .Windsor and then in Leamington where for a period of time he was Building Commissioner for the Town of Leamington. He returned to Tobermory in 1967 where he now- operates a motel and a passenger and charter boat service, and where he is frequently referred to as "Captain Ahab". Mr. Smith has been a trustee representing the Townships of St. Edmunds, Lindsay and Eastaror. and the Village of Lion's Head since his election to office in January 1975. He served as vice-chairman of the Board front January 1 to November 30, 1978. For two years prior to the formation of County Boards he had been a trustee of the Bryce Peninsula District High School Board. Mr. Smith is married to the former Gloria Hopkins, also a native of Tobermory. They have four children, one 'son and three daughters, the youngest presently attending secondary school. The dry road you're on now can quickly become breadierous at the next bend in the road... ice patches, frost sudden snow squalls, even wet leaves create unexpected hazards. But during the Holiday Season these hazards tend to inaease. Poor visibility combined with heavy traffic throughout the Holiday Season means you must be in good condition to drive under these conditions. So must your cat So keep it in good repait And keep yourself alert at all times. If you drink, don't drive. And always watch out for the other drivers.
