BY VALETTA EMERSON
On being asked last week
how "Dickie's Hill" on High-
way 86 got its name we came
up with the information from
an old local history book
owned xty John A. Currie.
Mr, Dickie lived on the
north side of the road at the
hill beside the creek. There is
still indentations in the
ground where the log house
and barn were.
There was a bridge over
the creek called Dickie's
Bridge. Also we found a
team had run away and when
stopped by John Dawson,
they were near exhaustion so
Mr. Dawson asked Dickie to
put the horses in his barn
and treat them. Dickie refus-
ed to do so unless paid 50c.
John Dawson paid the money
and Dickie tended the team
till the owner came for them:
