Citizenship and World Af-
fairs was the theme for the
November meeting of the
Lucknow Women's Institute.
A delicious dessert prepar-
ed by the hostesses., Mrs.
Annie Shiells, Mrs. Thelma
Brown and Mrs. Dorothy
Brown, was enjoyed by all.
The president, Mary Mac-
Gillivray, opened the meet-
ing and conducted the busi-
ness.
The secretary was re-
quested to write a letter to
the Bruce County Board of
Education, regarding the er-
ection of School Crossing
signs in Lucknow. The Insti-
tute Christmas meeting and
dinner will be held on
December 12th in the Parish
Hall.
Mrs. Susan McNaughton
gave an excellent report on
the Area Convention which
she attended on October 11
and 12 in Southampton. The
theme was "Learn and
Grow".
The secretary treasurer,
Mrs. Winnifred Gammie,
read the financial report.
Mrs. Dorothy Brown gave
the motto, "A New and
Better World Should Start
With Each of Us".
Mrs. Shiells had charge of
the program. Mrs. Edith
Webster sang a solo accom-
panied by Mrs. Isabel Ritchie
at the piano.
1 Mrs. Thelma Brown intro -
1 duced the guest speaker,
George Brophy, lawyer, and
presented him with a gift.
Mr. Brophy dealt mainly
on the importance of wills.
Ile also explained the Family
Law Reform Act, which was
introduced in March, 1078,
whic h revolutionized the
ownership of property. A

educational.

The Kairshea Women's
Institute held their Public
Relations- meeting November
18 at 1.30 o'clock at the home
of Mrs. Leonard Clarke. The
president, Mrs. Evan Keith,
welcomed all to the meeting
and told a joke from her Rally
report. Mrs, Clarence Ritchie
read, "A Psalm of Thanks-
giving". The minutes were
read by the assistant secret-
ary -treasurer, Mrs. Donald
Maclntyre. She also read the
correspondence and gave the
treasurer's report.
Mrs. Cliff Roulston read a
letter from the Arthritic
Society telling where some of
our money donated is spent.
Mrs. Evan Keith reported
that some members will be
babysitting in the children's
room at the Wingham and
District Hospital on a volun-
tary basis. Mrs. Allan Mac-
Dougall and Mrs. Donald
Maclntyre were named dele-
gates to the Education Con-
ference, "78 and Beyond",
to be held ".in - Walkerton
November 18.
Mrs. Leonard Clarke, cur-
ator, reported that her com-
mittee had had a meeting
and everyone was to update
their farm history for the
Tweedsmuir book. Institute
members were also asked to
get historical information
about farms not presently
occupied by W.I. members.
Mrs. Donald Maclntyre
and Mrs. Leonard Clarke will
be in charge of Entertain-
ment for the Birthday .Party
at Pinecrest Nursing . Home
in February. Mrs. Clarence
Ritchie thanked the Institute
on behalf of the ,4-H club for
the use of the hall for their
Hallowe'en Party.
A sing song was conducted
by . Mrs. Clarence Ritchie.
Mrs. Bob Gilchrist read the
report of the Grey -Bruce
Area Convention which had
-been well-prepared by Mrs.
Gordon Wall. The Standing
Committee reports were giv-
en.
Mrs. Clarence Ritchie,
P,R,O., was chairlady for the
program. Mrs. Leonard
Clarke played a -lovely piano
solo. The Bruce County Rally
report was given by Mrs.
Evan Keith and Mrs. Cliff
Roulston. Mrs. Bob Gilchrist
and Mrs. Donald Maclntyre
conducted a most enjoyable
Spelling Match which was
won by Mrs. Donald Mac-
Kinnon. Mrs. Donald Mac-
Kinnon gave the courtesy
remarks.
Lunch was served by the
hostess and directors, Mrs.
Bob Gilchrist and Mrs. Don-
ald Maclntyre.
ST. MARY'S C.W.L.
Mrs. Gerry Ross was host-
ess for St. Mary's C.W.L.
members on November 13th.
Fr. Dentinger opened the
meeting with League pray-
ers. Mrs. Leddy, president,
welcomed those present.
Mrs. MacDonald, secretary,
read the minutes and Mrs.
Smith gave the treasurer's
report.
As there was no corres-
pondence the meeting dealt
mostly with the report of the
Deanery meeting on October
lath in Stratford. Mrs.
O'Donnell reported on the
Publicity Workshop and Mrs.
Ross on organization. Mrs.
Leddy discussed communica-
tions and the president's dut-
ies.
A donation was made to
the Play School at Kings-
bridge, and Mrs. Couchi
reported on the Block Parent
program and asked for volun-
teers to join the program.
Fr. Dentinger asked for
more publicity material to be
put in bulletin and also for a
stronger Liturgy response.
He concluded with an article
on "What I can do" - one
enduring smile.
The meeting closed with
prayers and the hostess
served lunch.
An outdoor ceremony' at the home of the bride's parents
united In marriage Shirley Phillips and Hugh Eskritt on
September 23. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Phillips, R. R. 7 Ldcltnow, and the groom Is the son of Mrs.
Margaret Jean Eskritt, R. R. 1 Fordwich. The couple are
residing at R. R. 1 Fordwich.
