The children, in fancy and comic co.stumes, arrived early and' the fun began. Many adults, too, came in costume„ each concealing his (or her) identity until the party was almost over. Mrs. Robert Thompson was in charge of the ludging, with Mrs. Stewart Lane and Mrs. Don Robertson acting as judges. Prizes were given for the• various age groups. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Van Rooyen and Mrs, Francis Boyle en- tertained with music, stories and games throughout the evening. Frank Emerson of Goderich. Friends of Mrs. Burton Collins will be sorry to learn she is a patient in hospital at Owen Sound. We wish her a speedy and complete recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Don Reid, Brian, Sandra and Larry were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gibson of Whitechurch on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Scott and Mrs. Morley Scott visited in Kincardine on Tuesday with Mr. Dan Campbell and Miss Ruby Campbell. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson on Friday were Mrs. Olive Needham and Mrs. Marjorie Humphrey of Lucknow, and on Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Devitt of Florida called at the Thompson home. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Scott and Mr. and Mrs. Morley Scott visited in Teeswater on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Morley Petteplace - the occasion being the 45th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Pet- teplace. Mrs. Orville Needham of Vancouver spent the weekend at the home of her son, with Mr. and Mrs, Harvey Needham and family. Her many friends in this community will be pleased to learn that she is much im- proved in health, having spent . some time in hospital since coming East. Mr. and Mrs. Norval Stanley were in Wiarton on Wednesday, visiting with Mrs. Stanley's mother. Mrs. Harvey Hodgins of Kinlough was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott on Sunday. Huron Track Spinners' and Weavers' Guild is sponsoring a Frame, Loom Workshop in Goderich. Four ladies, Mrs. Cecil Sutton, Mrs. Earl Elliott, and Mrs. Don Reid of Purple Grove and Mrs. Don Gillies of Ripley are attending and finding the course quite interesting. Mr. and Mrs. R. • Thompson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Don Morrison otKincardine to Woodstock on Friday evening where they at- tended a Safety Banquet for C.I.L. employees. Miss Bonnie Boyle of London and Miss Heather Boyle of Waterloo spent the 'weekend at their home here. ' The ACW of Kinlough Anglican Church held a successful Christmas tea and bazaar on Saturday afternoon, Many of the ladies of this community attended. The Sub -executive oT Maitland Presbyterial met at the home of Mrs. D. Robertson on Monday last. Mr. and Mrs. Doh Robertson visited on Thursday, with Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Goddard, Woodstock, also Mr. and Mrs. Clarence MacDonald, Brantford. Mrs. Olive Needham and Mrs. Marjorie Thompson spent Thur- sday and Friday, with Mr. and Mrs. Pete Leeson, Elmira. Sympathy is extented to the McFarlan families. Mr. Donald McFarlan passed away on Wednesday. The funeral was held on Saturday, from the MacKenzie funeral home Lucknow. Sonya Schmidt and Shannon Cumming spent the week -end with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cumming, Paisley, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thompson. • Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gawley visited in Elmira, with Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Greig, Tresa, Debbie and Ryan. PURPLE GROVE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING The Education and Cultural Activities Convener, Mrs. Roy Collins was in charge of the November meeting held at the home of Mrs. Don Robertson. Roll Call was "Tell something of your school days that remains with you today." Scripture was read by Mrs. Ben Scott and the Motto "Should children be seen and not heard today?" was prepared and presented by Mrs. Collins. Discussion followed and many- views expressed. Reports of recent special - meetings were given by delegates, Mrs. Cecil Sutton reporting on the Area Convention held in Southampton and Mrs. Morley Scott reporting on the Bruce County Rally at Sauble Beach. A contest of local in- terest was conducted by Mrs. Don Forster and enjoyed by all. SHOOT PARTY The shoot parties Started again for this year on Thurs- day, Novetnber 2nd. Win- ners this week were Peter Jefferson and Gorge Mitch- ell' for the men and Frances Murray and Ruby Hanna for the women. Novelty prizes were for lucky score card. The prizes went to Eva Walker and John Gaunt. Lunch followed.
