This is for beginners and it is open to all ladies who wish to avail themselves the opportunity to do needlepoint. Relatives and friends in this community extend con- gratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John Lockhart of Kincardine who on Sunday, November 19th will have open house marking their 65th wedding anniversary. John taught in Kinlough school many years ago and Susan is the daught- er of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haldenby. We wish every blessing to this es- teemed couple. Carl MacDonald returned home from Wingham Hos- pital where he was quite ill. HOLYROOD 4-H The Metric Mixers opened their third meeting with the 441 pledge led by Wilma Duiker. This meeting was held on October 16th at Mrs. Gingrich's home,. • Lea -Anne Haldenby read the minutes of meeting two. Further businessincluded a vote for the "leaders and members" page as well as for the cover design and colour. Several pages in the mem- bers' pamphlet were. discus- sed. These concerned foods which freeze well, how to add "life" to your lunch, breads, vegetables, as well as infor- mation on soups and white sauces. Carrie Allen and Wilma Duiker made Potato Cheese Chowder a la Metric. While this yummy chowder was being made, Lori Gingrich and Michelle Edwards made Peanut Butter and Carrot Spread and replaced part of the recipe with apples rather than carrots. ?These dishes were sampled, with Healthy Peanut Butters Bread. October 23 found the Met- ric Mixers holding their fourth meeting at Mrs. Ging- rich's home. Some ideas concerning the 9lub's party included inviting a younger brother or sister and making it a masquerade party. Also discussed were menu ideas, entertainment, and a place to have the party. Mrs. Gingrich demonstat- ed how to make tea biscuits. Connie Stanley and Linda MacDonald demonstrated Foodusually tomes in kilograms and grams what happens to tea biscuits when they were over worked and under worked., Lea -Anne Haldenby and Kathy Duiker made creamy ham and mush- room supper which was enjoyed with tea biscuits. KAIRSHEA 4-H The Kairshea. Metric Mag- icians met for their seventh meeting at the home of Mrs. Clarence Ritchie on October 30. The members were divid- ed into two groups to discuss problems presented in two fiction stories. They judged biscuits and made cover pages for their text books. The exhibit for Achievement Day was also discussed. JUNIOR FARMERS' MEETING • On Saturday, October 28, 1978 the West Huron Junior Farmers met at Brookside Public School. Thirty enthus- iastic members answered the roll call. All committees reported that everything was coming along fine for the dance on November 18 in Lucknow. Lloyd Morrison reported that • Sound System 70 is playing at the annual ban- quet on December 2, 1978. The Junior Farmers Zone Conference is in Palmerston on Saturday, November 11, the theme is "You and Yourself" and some mem- bers are hoping to attend. The.election of officers was then held and the, 1979 executive is: president, Don Ritchie; vice president, Doug Aitchison; treasurer, Nancy Aitchison; secretary, Eliza- beth Ritchie; press reporter, Joanne Pentland; directors, Lloyd Morrison, Sharon Blake, Jim Pentland; social conveners, Alex Irwin, Brian Arnold. Followingthe meeting everyone went back to Nancy and Doug Aitchison's for a Hallowe'en party.
