Election for reeve.

L
WM. [BUD] HAMILTON
Bud Hamilton has served on Lucknow
Village Council for • 10 years.
His decision to run for reeve was
prompted by his belief that it is good to
have a change. "it in a couple of years,
one of the others on council want to run
for reeve, they should have the
chance," says Hamilton. He finds the
reeveship a challenge and is looking for
the support of council. "With their
support," says Hamilton, "we should
be able to, run the business as well as
anyone."
He would like to see more interest in
the election and more people contesting
seats on council.
In the coming term, Hamilton sees
village police proteCtion, the streets
program and the cleaning up of the
Lucknow River as top priorities.
Fle says he doesn't know how police
protection of the village can be improv-
ed, when an OPP office is not stationed
here. "The vandals can smell the OPP.
leaving town," says Hamilton. He feels
the officers on duty are doing their job,
but they require more manpower to
cover the village; effectively. Kincard-
ine OPP only have one or two men to
• cover Kincardine, Ripley and Lucknow
area, he added.
• On the street program, which will be
continued in ,the new term, Hamilton
said it is his biggest hope that more
provincial money will be available to do
the work, because there are so many
streets to be done.
Councilis making sure that the
cleanup of the Lucknow River -is on the
1978-79 budget for the Maitland Valley
Authority. and Hamilton wants to see
the work completed.
Hamilton says he is interested in
municipal and town business and wants
' to continue to serve the people of
Lucknow. He has operated the BP
Canada Bulk Plant for several years and
has been a volunteer , fireman for 27
years.
