Even though there won't, ;be an ;election
in "Huron Township, because all council
and school board seats were filled by
acclamation, Huron Township held a meet
'tire candidates night, October 3Q in the
Hilton Township Hall, The meeting was
sponsored by the Huron Township Federa-
tion of Agriculture,
Last Tuesday, Elmer Smeltzer withdrew
his nomination , paper for councillor,
leaving no one in contention for a
lection
councillor's seat,
Reeve Mike Snobelen was brief, saying
he found his past tern. as. Reeve an
enlightening experience and he hopedthe
next two years will be as •successful as his
first two years as Reeve..
Deputy Reeve Bert Elliott told those
present council had tried to get value • for
the money spent last term. •
Councillor Harry Cronin said he and
Councillor Cecil Suttonhad been on the
.raise 270, for
Lucknow and Kinloss Central Public
School pupils collected $271,25 for the
United Nations Children's. Fund while out
calling on Hallowe'en. This amount is $23
more than last year.

people of this community, many children of
the world will be given a better, chance• of
survival in ,countries where even getting
pure water is a problem.

Township had the best garbage" collection
in the area, . He also mentioned the
township had : bought and paid—tar fcr a
computer.
Councillor John Gamble said he had
been on the cemetery committee, fire
committee and medical centre .committee..
"The fire . department is a smooth
running organization, which is functioning
well," he said.
Councillor Gamble mentioned the cemet-
ery on the sixth concession which he and
the rest of the cemetery committee cleaned
up. . .
"It's our duty to look after . these old
cemeteries," he said.

Councillor Gamble., .said the committee
built a monument close to the road and put
all the tombstones in a cairn,
"1 would, like to see the right of way
brushed out, so people visiting the cairn
won't be trespassing on the neighbouring .
property," * he added.
As a member- of the medical centre
committee, Councillor Gamble said this
year the centre has a nurse receptionist
five days a week with a doctor ,from
Kincardine visiting Monday, Wednesday
and Friday afternoons.
"I'm .very pleased with the increase. in

future, business will increase and we'll be

The' graduating class of '78 returned to
F. E. Madill Secondary on Friday evening
for the annual Commencement Exercises,
Several Lucknow area grads as well, as

A Lucknow man was reported missing
and later found dead in a wooded area on -
the 12th concession of Kinloss Township
last Thursday morning.
John Wraith, 69, an avid hunter,had
gone hunting .in a wooded area on the
farms of Glen Haldenby and Jack Barr on
Wednesday: When he did not return home,
his wife phoned the Haldenby farm to ask if
his :truck • was still parked at the back of
their farm. Mrs. Wraith and her son, Rod,
from. Wingham went out to the Haldenby.
farm around 3 pan. because the truck was
still there and Mr: Wraith had still not
returned.
Mr. • italdcnby and a neighbour, 'Don.
MacEwan, organized a search by neigh-
bours and Mr. ' Wraith was reported
missing, to tlie.Ontario Provincial Police in
Kincardine, who later joined, the search. A
search dog arrived after midnight and .the
search continued through the night.
The dog located the body'r on Thursday
morning at 8.10, about a mile from Mr.
Wraith's truck.
An autopsy showed Mr. Wi'aith died of
heart failure after . suffering a broken hip
and ribs in a fall.
He is survived by his wife, Fanny, and
two. sons, Pod., Wingharn and gldon,
Wingham
Sarnia.
The funeral was held Sunday from the
MacKenzie and,: McCreath Funeral Home,
Bell was presented with the Alexander
MacKenzie Endowment Fund Award,
Mary Eadie was awarded .the "Mr. and ,
