Lancers tie first game of season
The Lucknow Lancers Int-
ermediate hockey team tied
their first gameof the season
in Wingham on Friday night.
The Weal lads put on a fine
display of penalty killing for
the ,first 20 minutes and had
the game tied on a goal by
Ian Montgomery. The first
Wingham goal was scored by
Neil Bieman.
The second period was
almost as hectic as the first,
but a goal by John MacKen-
zie had the Lancers ahead by
one at the end of two".
In the third period Luck -
now finally started .to play
hockey and went ahead four
to one, on goals by big Pete
Chisholm and Carl (Curly)
Stanley.
This lead held up until the
green machine from Luck-
now
ucknow ran out of gas as Bieman
0
went to work' and matched
two more to get a hat trick for
Wingham.
Lucknow still had the lead
until there was 2.06 left in
the game and P. Bakker tied
the game. The final two
minutes were fast butthe
game ended in a tie,
The Lucknow team has
picked up some players from
Kincardine including Andy
Sheddon and Gord Macin-
tyre. They should have a very
exciting team, this year and
play a .hard fast game.
The next game is against
Wellesley on Friday, Novem-
ber 3 at 8,30 p.m. The
Lancer's first home game is
Sunday, November 5 at 7.30
p.rn. against Milverton.
Come• out and support the
Lancers.
