Farmers Union held their
annual meeting at Brookside
School on Monday, October
23.
Elected as president for
the coming year is Lorne

Charlie Wilkins and directors
are Bev McNay, Leonard.
O'Loughlin and Grace Aust-
in.
John Krugel, District Dir-
ector from Moncton conduct-
ed the elections. John also
reported on -activities in the
District. Of particular inter-
est was the submission by
the NFU to the Canadian
Grain Commission. The corn
proposal by the NFU corn
commitee to the Provincial
Government was also discus-
sed.
Lorne Luther thanked
Mayme Wilkins, the past
president, for her work for
the last three years.
visited on. Sunday with; Mr-,
and Mrs. Ray Hamilton,
Ripley District School held
their commencement last
Friday evening. Congratula-
tions to all those students
who received awards.
Mrs. Wes Smith entertain-
ed a number of friends at her
home last Tuesday evening
to a Liquid Embroidery dem-
onstration. Mrs. Ross Cay-
ley, sister of Mrs. Wes
Smith, was the demonstrator
and had some beautiful work
to show to those who attend-
ed.
A large crowd attended the
bazaar and afternoon tea on
Saturday held at the St.
Andrews United Church,
R4p1ey.
Stocker
sale
A total of 490 cattle were
sold at the Lucknow Stocker
Sale on Monday, October 30.
17 Charolais steers averag-
ing 765 lbs. were sold by
John Rutherford to Bruce
Colwell at 80c.
Four steer calves averag-
ing 450 lbs. were sold by
Harvey Thompson to Don
McCosh at 94.50.
24 heifers averaging 700
lbs. were sold by Joseph
MacMillan to Clarence Rit-
chie at 70c.
Eight heifer calves aver-
aging 405 lbs. were sold to
Harold Elphick by Doug
Scott at 83c.
Gross sales for the day
were $250,093.
