Three will be elected of the following four: Harry Crellin, John Gamble, and Cecil Sutton, in- curnbents and newcomer, Elmer Smeltzer. Incumbent school trustee for the Bruce Board of Education, Cameron McCauley, did not run again and Barry Wylds will take the position by acclamation, In Ripley, only one person has handed, in a nomination for council - Joe Hodgins. Three councillors and a reeve are required. Two Bruce. Separate School Board trustees are required for Culross, Lucknow, Kinloss, Huron Township, Ripley, Kincardine, Kincardine Township, Tiverton, Bruce Township and West Wawanosh. Only one nomination has been handed in; Tames Kelly of Kincardine is running. All nominatiens are subject to change as nominations can be declined up to Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. W. Wawartosh Reeve retires CONTINUED FROM P. 1 councillor, commented that he was sorry to see such a small turnout, "But, 1 guess, some w9uld sooner watch the ball game than come to a ratepayers' meeting," referring to the World Series game 'televised that night on television. Don Young, R. 3 Auburn, said he would like to see council take the responsibility to pass a by-law stating that swimming pools and cesspools must be fenced in. He said •that the province will not pass such a by-law and he feels that any township which does not have such a by-law is negligent. Councillor Joe Hickey told Young that the by-law had fallen by the wayside provincially because it was pointed out that farm ponds, rivers and streams and any open body of water would have to be Chinese 'Cooking school this Thursday If yOu don't'have a wok, you can make delicious Chinese dishes in your deep fryer, your crock pot or if you have one, a microwave oven. The versatility and variety. of Chinese food will be demonstrated at a Chinese , Cooking School at the Community Centre on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Karen Chambers, a graduate of the Home Ethnornics Course at Guelph University, will demonstrate seven or eight dishes using a deep fat fryer, a microwave oven, a wok and West Bend cookware. •The Cooking School is being sponsored by the Lucknow Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society and proceeds will go to Cancer research. Construction on Co-op begins again Construction has started again on the new Lucknow Co-op store and warehouse, just south of the village. Lucknow Co-op manager, Nelson Hill, said this week,. that United Co- operatives has taken over the job and will hire the sub -contractors, hired by the original contractor, to complete the job. Geoffrey Fillmore, 13, from Amberley, read in the newspaper about a Goderich boy who had been a page in the Legislature and, being interested, asked his school principal whether he could apply. A page must have an average of 80 per cent or above in his school work, Brookside principal, Gary Jewitt, told Geoffrey that his average would qualify him and Geoffrey sent an application to the Speaker NMI* of the House in the Federal Parliament. A formal application was returned which Geoffrey completed and sent to the Speaker. In June he was notified that he had been accepted as a page and in August - he was informed that he would be serving in the first session of Parliament until November 24. A page must provide his own accommo- dation in Ottawa during hisletvice as page and Geoffrey will be tutoked in Math while absent from school. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fillmore, Amberley.
