For several years now a resident in. Gateway, Haven in Wiarton, he had only been -transferred to Owen Sound shortly before his passing. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Jim Bushell of St. Andrew's United Church Ripley on Thursday afternoon at the MacKenzie -McCreath. Funeral Home in Ripley. Interment was in Ripley Cemetery. At Gateway Haven Walt was always glad to meet folks from this area and talk with' them. A native of the tenth con- cession last° in Huron Township he was born there on October 24,1903. He is survived by his sister Agnes, Mrs. Peter Leeson .and two brothers Stewart of Ripley and Albert AB) of Niagara Falls. He was always a follower of the different sports. Mrs. Jack MacDonald of Ripley -brought a copy of the . Presbyterian Record for October 1978. This periodical is published monthly in Don Mills by the Presbyterian Church in Canada. In this latest edition, Chris had noticed a picture of local interest. It was one of the unveiling of the re- dedicated cornerstone of St. Andrew's Presbyterian . Sand was the minister here at Knox church Ripley and Ash- field Presbyterian church in the Lochalsh area and just left here a couple of years ago. • In the drizzle and mud last week Ron Dore of the 6th of Culross township and Larry Carter of the 10th of Huron township carried out land sur- veying on lots in the north end of Ripley. On the Tuesday before fall fair week'here, Glenn Dickson of Moorefield judged the fields entered in the ensilage and. grain corn field competitions sponsored by the Ripley Agricultural Society and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The scores in the grain,- corn raincorn competition were as, follows. The weather has continued being wet and chilly, not at all kind to fall fairs at Teeswater and, Tiverton last Saturday. The ground needs drying for har- vesting the fields of beans and corn. The monthly meeting of the Ripley Agricultural Society always held on the second Monday evening of the month was changed to next Monday evening because several directors wished to at- tend the district meeting of the Federation of Agriculture held last Monday evening in the Ripley Huron Complex. Noel MacLeod of Metro Toronto was home for the Thanksgiving weekend. Miss Jean MacDonald of the staff at Pine Lodge Rest Home is Lucknow was home in Ripley for the Thanksgiving weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martyn and family of Orilla spent Thanksgiving weekend with his mother Mrs. Adeline Martyn in Ripley. Mrs. Ruby Corbett of Victoria, British Columbia, is visiting with her sister-in-law Mrs. Elizabeth MacDonald in Ripley. On Thanksgiving Sunday they visilted with Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ferguson on concession 6 west in Huron townships. Thanksgiving holiday visitors with Mrs. Gladys Arnold in Ripley were Mrs. Laura Kearns of Cambridge and Mr. and Mrs. 'Hector Knight of Picton.
