BOWERS - FORSTER
On Saturday, September
9. 1978 at 5:30 p.m. in St.
Andrews United Church,
Ripley, Dorinda Jean Forster
became the bride of Donald
Roy Bowers. Rev. Jim Bush-
ell performed the ceremony.
Dorinda is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. '
Forster, R. R, 4 Ripley and
Donald is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. John L. Bowers, Ches-
ley.
The bride's sister, Mary
Lazarevich, of Brantford,
was the maid of honour.
Sandra Kempton, of Kincar-
dine, and Margie Bowers, of
Toronto, were the brides-
maids.
The groom's brother, Bill
Bowers, of Walkerton was
the best man. Mike Doerr of
Edson. Alberta, and Dave
Middleton, of Chesley, were
the ushers.
Kathy Forster, of Ripley,
played the flugal horn, Ann
Farrell, of Ripley, played the
piano and organ and Jeremy
Smith, of Kincardine, played
his guitar. The ' music was
perfect for such a happy
occasion.
The dinner was held in the
church basement following
the ceremony, and the recep-
tion was held in the Ripley
Community Complex.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Bowers
will reside at Point Clark.

The marriags of Doris
Eileen Willis of Bluevale and
Arthur William Burrows of
Whitechurch was solemnized
on Saturday, September 9,
1978 at the home of Bill and
Anita Willis, .BI vale. Rev.
W. Brown e'rformed the
ceremony attended by the
immediate family.
Mrs. Agnes Farrier,
Whitechurch, a friend of The
bride, acted as her attendant
and Cecil Garniss, Lucknow,
a friend of the . groom,
assisted the groom. Jordan
Willis, Kincardine was ring -
bearer.
Art and Doris are residing
at the groom's home hi
Whitechurch.
U.C.W. UNIT 1
The October meeting of
Unit 1 U.C.W. was held in
the church parlour. Mrs.
Havens opened the meeting
with a prayer and welcomed
everyone to the meeting.
Mrs. Clara Raynard, pro-
gram convener took charge
of the meeting. Mrs. Jean
MacLeod read the scripture.
Mrs. Raynard had the medi-
tation and prayer on the
Thanksgiving theme. An in-
strumental by Mrs. Mary
MacGillivray•'was enjoyed.
Mrs. MacGillivray intro-
duced the guests speaker,
Mrs. Blanche, Needham, who
gave an inspiring message.
on ' Thanksgiving and told
some highlights of their trip
to Kenya last winter. She,
was thanked by Mrs: Havens
and presented with a gift.
This part of the program was
closed with a prayer by Mrs.
Havens.
An invitation was received
from the Dungannon Fellow-
ship group to attend a
meeting at Brookside 'School
later this month. There will
be a display and sale of crafts
made by the native Cari-
beans. Eunice Dunsmuir
thanked the ladies for the
card sent to her. A visit to
Pinecrest was arranged.
Mrs.. Havens thanked the
committee, Mrs. Needham
and Mrs. 'MacGillivray who
acted as pianist. A social
time was enjoyed and lunch
served.
'Mrs. Phyllis Morrison,
social functions convener,
made arrangements for the
fowl supper.

The lawn at Dungannon
United Church was
decorated with a white
arbor, pink and white
gladioli and potted
shrubs, for the wedding of
Annette Hodges and
Gerry Bere on Friday,
September 8 at 6 :30 p.m.
The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Hodges and the
groom the son of Mrs.
Mary Bere, all of
Dungannon.
The Reverend C.G.
Westhaver officiated at
the double ring
ceremony.
Speakers were placed
on the lawn and music
was played from a tape.
The bride and her father
walked down the aisle to
Colour My World. Other
songs played during the
ceremony were Love Me
Tender, Love Me True,
Count On Me, and Just
the Way You Are.
The bride wore a floor
length gown, featuring a
high neck with sheer
sleeves, a sheeryoke
trimmed with, seed pearls
and a ruffle around the
bottom, all. trimmed with
lace. The long veil, edged
with lace, was attached to
a headdress of white silk
flowers.
She carried a silk
bouquet of pink
sweetheart roses,
miniature white car-
nations and white or-
chids.
The maid of honour,
Miss Brenda Chisholm, of
Lucknow, cousin, of ' 'the
bride, wore a pink silk
gown with a scoop neck
and gathered waist. She
carried ;a silk bouquet of
miniature white . car-
nations, ' pink sweetheart
roses and blue tinted
daisies.
Groomsman was John
Stanbury of Dungannon,
brother-in-law of the
LUCKNOW U.C.W. UNIT 2
Unit 2 of U.C.W. met at
the home of Mrs. G. Kirk-
land on Tuesday, October 3.
Mrs. Gibson opened the
meeting with a poem.
Mrs. Harvey Houston took
charge of the devotions. The
theme 1 of . the ' meditation,
given by Mrs. Houston, was
"God cares for his 'own".
Mrs. Mamie Henderson read
a prayer of Rev. Wilbur
Howard's.
Mrs. Philip MacMillan
showed slides of Ireland

Following the wedding,
a reception was held at
Lucknow Community
Centre.
The bride's mother
greeted guests in a blue
silk dress with a gathered
cape and ' a white rose
corsage.
The groom's mother
wore a blue dress with a
patterned chiffon cape
and a pink rose corsage.
For a wedding trip to
Buffalo, New York, the.
bride changed to a brown
and white , pinstriped
three-piece , outfit. She
wore a brown blouse and
corsage. The groom was
where she had visited recent-
ly.
Miss Ada Webster gave a
reading. The treasurer's re-
port was given by. Mrs.
Andrew Ritchie.
Miss Ada Webster report-
ed on community friendship.
Unit ' 2 are asked to visit
Pinecrest in October. On
Thursday, October 26 they
are invited to .Brookside
School ' for a, craft sale -
proceeds tobe used for
Missionary Work.
The offering was taken by
Mrs. Ritchie and dedicated
by Mrs. Gibson. Thankoffer-
ing envelopes were given
out.

the bride was feted at
several showers held by
Mrs. Marie Huff and Mrs.
Ellie McNeil, aunts of the
bride; Mrs. Bessie
McNee, aunt of the groom
and Mrs. Mary Bere,
mother of the groom at
the church; Miss 'Kim
Greene and Miss Dorothy
Culbert, friends of the
bride, at Kim's home;
and a community shower
at the Dungannon United
Church.
Gibson 'made arrangements
for supplies; help, etc. for
the fowl supper on October
17.
Mrs. Houston closed the
meeting with prayer.
Mrs. Gibson thanked the
hostess- and committee.
Lunch was served.

Unit 1 3 met at the home of
Mrs. Jean Jardine on Octob-
er 3rd. Mrs. Cook welcomed
everyone and thanked Mrs.
Jardine for inviting the group
to her home.
Mrs. Jardine gave the
treasurer's report. Mrs.
Cook gave a report from the
Workshop on Stewardship
held in Bervie recently and
Mrs. Alton gave her report
