On Wednesday evening,
October 4, 197$, the W.I.
met in Dungannon United
Church S.S."rooms for the
Grandmothers meeting with
33 in attendance. The presid-
ent, Mrs. George Errington,
welcomed all, especially the
visitors.
An invitation was read
from the Christian Fellow-
ship ladies to attend a "Self
Help Progarn" sponsored by
the Mennonite Central Com-
mittee at Brookside School
later this month. A donation
was made to the blind, and
gifts sent for the area con-
vention to be held in London
on November I and 2.
Prizes were given through-
out the program to grand-
mothers, (a) oldest bride -
Mrs. Gordon Congram (mar-
ried in 1918); (b) most recent
grandmother - Mrs. Alvin
Kerr; travelled farthest this
summer - Mrs. Trommer '(to
Ireland); most grandchildren
- Mrs. Huber Lawrence;
youngest grandmother -
Mrs. John Maize; closest
birthday - Mrs. Irvine Eedy.
Several readings were given
by Mrs. Hugh. McWhinney
and Miss Beth McConnell.
The guest speaker was
Mrs. Gordon Taylor from
Goderich who spoke on her
work as Curator of Tweeds-
muir Histories at Auburn and
now at Goderich. She has
also helped to publish two
Auburn history booklets. She
encouraged all to keep a
"house log" or history of
their home and its occupants
through the years. Also to
include diagrams of locations
of drains, septic tanks etc.,

Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hous-
ton and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
Johnston of Aylmer enjoyed
a trip to Lexington, Kentucky
and attended a horse sale.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mac-
Dougall had Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Dolley, Audrey and
Jamie of Orangeville, Mrs.
Grace Farrish and Mr. and
Mrs. Allan MacDougall and
family for Thanksgiving din-
ner.
Mr. and. Mrs. Leo Murray
and boys attended a 25th
wedding for Leo's sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Dales of Smith
Falls on the weekend. They
also called in to visit with Mr.
and Mrs. Greg Welch and
Cameron of Kingston.
Mr. and Mrs. Ian Wallace
and family of London were
weekend visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Steer.
Thanksgiving dinner was
served at Mr. and Mrs. Don
Bells' and family with other
guests being Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Steer and family and
other cousins of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald.
MacGillivray and family
were weekend visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Buchmeier
and Carol. All were Thanks-
giving dinner guests with
Mrs. Stewart MacGillivray
on Sunday.
Currie Colwell, Anne and
Betty moved into' their new
home last week. Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Colwell moved
into their new home also last
week.
Betty Cplwell showed the
films of Ghana, . Africa on
Sunday evening in South
Kinloss Church. They were
very interesting and makes
us feel how lucky we are here
to have so much food and
other supplies here at home.
A social time was held after.
Congratulations to Mr,
and Mrs. Herb Buckton who
celebrated their 40th wed-
ding anniversary on the
weekend. To help celebrate a
dinner was served at the
home of their daughter, Mr.
nd Mrs. John Mowbray and
family. Dr. and Mrs. Bill
Buckton and family were
home from Waterloo and
Mrs. Janet McConnell of
Mildmay were all visitors
with them.

ed. Mrs, Alvin Kerr thanked
Mrs. Taylor and gave heir a
gift in appreciation of her
her interesting topic.

Mrs. Clifford Purdon. Mrs.
Lawrence taught a song.
The report of the W.I.
Rally held at Londesboro on
Monday was given by Mrs.
C, Blake. Five of Dungannon
members attended this Ral-
ly.
Three more prizes were
given: grandchild the farth-
est away - Mrs. Lawrence
who has six grandchildren in
Africa; to the one holding the
lucky saucer - Mrs. Tom
Young; and most buttons -
Mrs. Jim Errington.
Courtesies were given by
the president. A social half
hour with tea and old
fashioned cookies was enjoy-
ed. Hostesses were Miss Iva
Carr, Mrs. A. Kerr, Mrs. G.
Errington and Mrs. Gordon
Finnigan.
Before leaving for home
each grandmother was given
a geranium or other slip
provided by the committee.
Have faith in your
future, or it's bound to be
a failure.
