Bruce .Presbytery meets at Harriton Umted, church

meeting of the Bruce Pres-
bytery on September 19 in
the Harriston United Church.

eported on the six induction
services held since Pregby-
tery met briefly at Hamilton
Conference: Southampton,

The . "Family Affairs"
meeting of the Kinloss
Kairshea Women's Institute
was held Thursday, Septem-
ber 21 at the home of Mrs.
Hank Hartemink.
Mrs. Allan MacDougall,
vice president, welcomed all
to the meeting. Mrs. Roy
Finlayson read the scripture.
Mrs. Bill Haldenby introduc-
ed the guest speaker, Mr.
Wark, . from 'the Children's
Aid Society. He spoke on
Breakdown in Families, plac-
ing some of the blame on
emotional immaturity and
self-centredness. He also
spoke on "Child Abuse". He
said that although there are
cases in Bruce .County there
aren't as many as in the
cities. He wa§ thanked and
given a gift, from Mrs. Lloyd
MacDougall.
Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall,
secretary -treasurer, read the
minutes and correspond-
ence. A motion was made
and carried to cater to the
Lucknow Lions dinner meet-
ings.
Mrs. Gordon Wall was
named delegate and Mrs.
Lloyd. MacDougall alternate,
to the Area Convention to be
held in October at South-
ampton. Mrs. Evan Keith
Allenford, Lion's Head- and
Cape croker, Tara, Palmer-
ston and Chesley with Arthur
service to be held later this
month, The new members
and guests were then wel-
comed. Rev. David Proctor
was the representative from
Hamilton Conference.
Other routine business
was attended to and a
welcome extended by Rev.
Gordon Williams to Harrison
United Church.
The four Presbytery com-
mittees met for an hour' and
when they re -convened were
addressed by Rev. Douglas
Weatherburn, Department of
Pensions for the United
Church. Under the topic,
Age of Retirement, he.gave a
detailed account of all pen-
sion plans. A question and
answer period followed.
Presbytery re -convened af-
ter lunch with the worship
service being conducted by
Rev. John Shearman, Pal-
merston, speaking on the
Seasons of Creation. He
accompanied his talk and
scripture with interesting
slides depicting the phases of
nature. A closing prayer arid
meditation followed.
The reports of committees
were given by each chairman
and much discussion took
place. One outcome was the
appointing of Rev. Terry
'Seney, Allenford, as publish-
er for ' the beginning of a
Presbytery News Letter with
each congregation submit-
ting events and worthwhile
news.
Lynn Robertson, ''Youth
Worker, made an appeal for
.unity in youth work and
stressed that congregational

After other business was
attended to and announce-
ments were .made, the meet-
ing adjourned: with prayer by
Dr. Brydon, to meet again in,
November.

Mrs. Cliff Roulston report-
ed that the Arthritis Canvass
was well underway. The
Lucknow, Holyrood and
Whitechurch Women's Insti-
tutes will be guests at the
October meeting'.
Mrs. Harvey Houston was
chairlady for the program.
Mrs. Virden Mowbray, con-
vener for Family and Con-
sumer Affairs, read the
report received at the District.
Annual. Mrs. Cliff Roulston
gave a reading called "Es-
say Placed Kids with Love".
The vegetable corsage
contest . was won by Mrs.
Cliff Roulston. Lunch was
served .by the hostess and
directors, Mrs. Harold How-
ald and Mrs. Allan Mac-
Dougall.
