[Sentinel staff photo] ' Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, September 20, 1978—Page West Wawanosh Town- ship Council held its regular monthly meeting on Tues- day, September 5. The minutes of the August meeting were read and adopted, subject to amend- ment by insertion of an omitted motion regarding the, Smyth Municipal Drain Ex- tension and Improvement by-law. The Clerk reported to Council that she had received a telephone call from Mrs. Harold Londry, and sub- sequently a letter from the Londrys' solicitor to the effect that they no longer wished to implement the recommendations proposed to correct the erosion of the Anderso Drainage Works on their property by E. H. Understadt Inc. In view of these communications the Court of Revision slated for that evening had been can- celled. Motion - Councillors Cranston and Hickey "That the motion of Councillors Stothers and Cranston, made 1 August 1978, giving first and second reading to the Provisional by-law, by-law #9 1978, The' Anderson Drain- age Works Repair and Im- provement, be rescinded.. Council was informed that Brickman Tile Drainage had requested an increase, to their contract of $900.00 to complete the closed portion of the Kirk Municipal Drain Repair and Improvement. Motion - Councillors Foran and Hickey: "That Brickman Tile Drainage who were awarded the contract for the closed portion of the Kirk Municipal Drain Repair and Improvement in 1977, be held to an increase of 10% of the contract price or $400.00 maximum to construct thi closed portion of the drain.' Messrs. Harry and Edgal Carr attended the meeting tc discuss the Dungannon Drain with Council. Allan Miller presented five claims totalling over $1,250.00 for loss of sheep from injury and worrying by dogs. Mr. Miller informed Council that he had proof as to the owner of the dogs, and wished tohave some positive action by Council to be sure he would have no future trouble from the dogs. Coun- cil informed, Mr. Miller that the owner would be notified of the responsibility of an owner of a dog which has been found annoying sheep, and' that the . said owner would be given a limited time to carry out that respon- sibility. Allan Dickson questioned Council that a bill for clearing out a fencebottom along the road on his property. The Township had agreed to split the cost of the bulldozing bill with Mr. Dickson, and informed him that he should contact the contractor as to the reason for his portion being more than half. Tenders for the construc- tion of the Smyth Municipal Drain Extension and Im- provement were opened and considered, Motion - Coun- cillors Stothers and Hickey: "That the tender of 'Postill Tile drainage, R. R. 3 Clinton at $14,935.00 for the tile portion of the Smyth Munic- ipal Drain Extension and Im- provement be accepted."
