Mr. and Mrs. Nick Perry, Detroit, Michigan attended the Drennan family reunion on Sunday afternoon, August 27 and will be visiting with relatives and friends in this area until Tuesday, August 29. She re- turned home on Friday, August 25. Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesch►y, September 6, 1978 --Page 23 A swim meet in Lucknow on Friday, August 25 saw 75 swimmers from Wingham, Teeswater and Lticknow compete. There were . about 25 on the Lucknow team, 4-11 CLUB KAIRSHEA METRIC MAGICIANS Here we are .again with news from an exciting, new 4-H club. We started at 9.15 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Clarence Ritchie, with ten members. Nominations were held with the following results: president, Dianne McBride; vice president, Carol Buchmeier; secretary, Nancy Haldenby; and press reporter, Anne Doelman. The leader for this club is Mrs. Clarence Ritchie, and the assistant leader is Karen Doelman. The members of this club are Carol Buchmei- er, Bonnie Clark, Mary Ann Ritchie, Karen Doelman, Nancy Haldenby, Dianne McBride, Molly McBride, Tom Downey, Sherry Baker, and Anne Doelman. To start the, food part of this club we made granola. While it was baking ;We played a grocery game where one decided into which section food would go, (milk and milk produets, meat and alternates, fruits and veg- etables, breads and cereals, 'or a section " of little good- ness). We also did a metric. crossword. We decided what else we could, put in granola and how to serve it. When we had finished this, the granola was ready to sample. Not all of us like it. Before our next meeting we must make granola for our family and get their opinion. Fire at McClenaghan home.. CONTINUED FROM P. 10 Ladies of the community gathered at -Dungannon Unit- ed Church Sunday. School room on Wednesday evening at a shower in honour of Miss Debbie Schultz, bride-to-be. Mrs. Judi McMichael played the piano while people gath- ered. Elaine Stewart con- ducted a contest. Piano solos were rendered by Mary Anne Boyle, and by Heather Ann, Mary Katharine and Maur- een aur een Stapleton. The bride was escorted to her chair by her sister, Mrs. Bonnie Gib- bings, Mrs. Michelle Rourke and the groom's sister, Charlene Rourke. Mrs. Flos- sie Ivens read an address to the bride and Sylke Becker and . Glenda Park brought forward the gifts. Debbie, wearing a hat made from the bows off the , gifts, thanked the ladies courteously and invited them to visit her in Clinton. She gave special thanks to the ladies who organized the shower and provided ltinch. RELATIVES BRIDAL SHOWER A shower for two brides, Miss Debbie Stothers (wed on September 2) and Mrs. Jim Lawlor, an August bride, was held at Brookside School on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Judi McMichael played the piano while the guests assembled and piled their gifts in a wishing well. Mrs. Marie Park conducted two contests. Lenore Bradley of Goderich gave a reading. Elaine Stewart read the address to Debbie Stothers and Marie Park read the address for Debra Lawlor. Gifts were brought forward by Wanda Park and Michele Good. After the brides re- plied with gracious thanks, Mrs. Judi McMichael played for singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows". A delicious lunch was served. • UNITED CHURCH NEWS Rev. C. G. Westhaver spoke on the subject, "Faith- ful over a few things", based on the parable of the talents, in Sunday service at Dun ganon United Church. The - children's story was entitled, "To everything a season". A cordial welcome was extended to Mrs. Harold Elliott as new organist. Both young and old, male and female, if they are interested in singing, are invited to come to choir practice on Thursday at7.00 p.m. Mrs. Elliott is anxious to form a choir which would contribute much to the weekly services. Sunday School will resume its regular sessions next Sunday. There is a teachers' meeting on Tuesday evening in the Sunday Sch: o1 room. Dungannon Anniversary Sunday will be observed on September 17 with Rev. Craig Railton of Cambridge as guest preacher and the Dahmer' family of Kitchener bringing special music. The sacrament of infant baptism is anticipated at both Nile and Dungannon churches on . Sunday, Sept- ember 24. DUNGANNON CHRISTIAN FELLOWShIP CHURCH Pastor and Mrs. Lawrence returned on Friday after having spent the last few weeks in Monetville, North- ern Ontario., Pastor Lawrence spoke on the thence, "Christ, the solid rock", in his Sunday morn- ing service. which gave their best but did not come up the winner.
