He competed against a heifer for which $5,000 was tieing asked. On Monday last Mrs. Carl McClenaghan attended a shower for bride-to-be, Glor- ia Gollan. Tuesday last Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dobie of Paris visited with Mrs.. Ben McClenaghan and Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan. Mrs. Eileen Parker, Jennie Parker of Exeter and Dena Graham of Burlington were weekend guests at the Mc- Clenaghan home. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ron McClenaghan of St. Thomas visited Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan and Mrs. Ben McClenaghan. Mr. and Mrs. Simon de Boer and twins, Miriam and Sarah, of Langside visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson. Ed Hogg of Thamesford visited Saturday with Wilford and John Clipperton. We are happy to report that Murray Adams is ex- pected. home the first of the week from London Hospital where he hasbeen for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Fal- coner of Sarnia spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Milli- gan and Clara. Paul Falconer spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mowbray and his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Reli- son Falconer and Lynn who had spent holidays with her grandmother, Mrs. Stacey of Wingham. Congratulations to Janene Purdon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purdon, River side - road, on bringing honours to the community by being one of the Ontario Scholars at F. E. Madill High School. She hopes to attend Western Ontario University this fall. Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson of Winghant have sold their house and have moved into the small apart- ment belonging to her father, Robert Mowbray, until a larger one is available. What they couldn't take to the 'Apartment they stored at the home of Mrs. Agnes Farrier. On Wednesday last Mrs. Lorne Durnin and Mrs. Fred Tiffin on behalf of the Whitechurch Card Club pre- sented Mrs. Doris Willis who had moved to Bluevale, with a gift from the club: Colleen and Steven Durnin of St. Helens spent holidays last week .with their grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Durnin. Whitechurch U.C.W. Aug- ust meeting will be held Thursday, August 31 at the home of Mrs. Elwood Gros- korth of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin of Wingham. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Elliott and Jeffery of Brussels and Mrs. Elliott of Wingham were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and family. Congratulations to Bruce Wilkins and Jane Farrow of Cambridge who were mar- ried at Cambridge United Church Saturday at 3 o'clock with the reception held later at the hotel where a crowd of friends and relatives gather- ed to do them honour with many gifts. They will be residing in Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hum- phrey entertained Bluevale Y.P.S. who invited White- church Y.P.S. to enjoy a corn roast and spaghetti party on Sunday, evening. Kendra Purdon spent holi- days last week with her grandmother, Mrs. Webster Jacklin of Listowel. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon and Kendra spent Sunday with the Square Dance Group at Point Farms. We are pleased to report that Robert Mowbray was able to return home on Friday after spending a week in Wingham Hospital. Alex Havens of Lucknow was a Saturday visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emer- son. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emer- son, Darlene, , Sharon and Brenda returned home to St. Catharines on Saturday after spending a few days of his holidays at his farm home here. Karen Currie left on Satur- da for Alberta where she has accepted a position at Blair- moore Hospital near Crows Nest Pass. She starts work September 1st. Mrs. Brian Courtris of London spent Friday and Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Currie and saw her sister, Karen, leave for Alberta. - Mrs. Earl Caslick and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn of Olivet welcomes new family family and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Black. Mrs. Walter Black attend- ed a relative shower on Sunday afternoon for Miss Linda Vogan of Kincardine. Bob -Blackwell is on the sick list with pneumonia. We wish him a speedy recovery. A large crowd attended the reception for Mr. and Mrs. Rod McDonagh. (nee Joanne Hamilton) which was held recently in the Lucknow Community Centre. Ob ituary�" ELWYN ROSS FEAGAN Elwyn Ross Feagan, Nile, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich on August 23, 1978 at the age of 50. A farmer most of his life he had been with Champion Road Machinery for the last six years. He was born on August 3, 1928, the son of Carman Isaac Feagan and Mildred Fisher of Colborne Town- ship, now of Goderich. He lived in Colborne until he moved to Nile in 1960. He married Ann Jean Pinder on Septeiriber 3, 1960 in Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich. • He is survived by his wife, and their children, Lynda Ann, Laurie Ellen, Gregory Elwyn, Glen Andrew and Lisa Marie, all at home. He is also survived by. his parents, two sisters, Lois, Mrs. Grant Farrish, .Lucknow; , and Joyce, Mrs. Arnold Stothers, Nile and one brother, Wayne, Toronto. The funeral was held at the Stiles Funeral Home, Goder- ich, at 1 p.m. on August 28, 1978 with Rev. Clyde West - haver officiating. Pallbearers • were Vern Bean, Ron Pentland, Jack Pentland, George Sillib, Charlie Johnston and Lloyd McLarty. Burial followed in Col- borne Township.
