Mr, and Mrs. Joe Judge, Karen, Tim and Kelley returned to their home in Jackson, Michigan on Fri- day, August 25 after spend- ing holidays with his uncle, Holyrood Happenings BY LYNNE NICOLSON Another week has gone by in the lives of the people who live in Holyrood. The weeks seem to be going very fast and if you stop and think about it the whole year seems to have gone past quickly. It makes you want to get the most out of life. I think too much time is spent competing with each other instead of making the best of our own capabilities. (I'm trying to give a sermon). What about the weather this week? It sure has been different. The radio called for sunny skies and highs of 90 F. and we end up with dull, foggy, rainy skies and lows of 75 F. But it wasn't 'always that miserable as it did perk up when a few people from Holyrood and area attended the opening ceremonies for the Lucknow Community Centre. Area children also participated, as they are in the Lucknow Band. On vacation just before school starts is Miss Rosita Page. She is staying with Mr. and Mrs. R. Page in Hamil- ton. I hope her stay is enjoyable. I received word that the Kinloss :Girls Baseball team are holding a dance on' Thursday, August 31st. I hope it is a success and I'll report next week how it turned out. Here's a little something that I found in $ book that I though you might enjoy reading. It is an old Arabian Proverb. A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain it together know- ing the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. You have to ponder over it to get it's complete meaning. As you can see there is not much to report on this week. Many have stayed home and cleaned up around their homes or repaired things mainly the mailboxes as an inspection was done about 15 days ago which leaves 15 more days left to correct the problems specified. Many will have to raise their mailboxes a few feet or bring them closer to the road which some people object to, as the snowplow seems to be fond of mailboxes in the winter. Others have . to put gravel below their mailboxes so that the postwoman can drive up to the box. Most people are not complaining as there . is nothing more pleasant than seeing the little flag in the morning signalling that there is mail. ,. Thought for the week: The problem with opportunity is that it comes in the form of hard work. Joe and Teresa Courtney and family. Antoinette Dalton, Royal Oak, Michigan visited during the week with her brothers, Ray and Dennis Dalton and members of the Dalton families. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sin - nett and members of their family have been spending holidays camping at the beach and visiting with relatives and friends in this area. Mr. and -Mrs. Pete Murray of Royal Oak, Michigan are visiting with her brother, John O'Connor. Members of the Kings- bridge Youth Club and friends enjoyed an evening of fun roller skating at the Lucknow Arena on Tuesday, August 22 under the spon- sorship of the Kingsbridge Youth Club. The Lucknow Fire Depart- ment were called when a field of straw belonging to Joe Courtney, R.
