Showery weather Last week
delayed harvest operations.
We , are hoping for more
settled weather this week.
Kim and Karey Coughlin
spent the weekend with Mr,
and Mrs. Clifford Young
while their parents attended
a conference in Guelph.
Mrs. Midford Wall held a
successful Stanley party at
her home last Tuesday
evening. Afterwards a dainty
lunch was served by the
hostess. Mrs. Marjorie Wall
of Wingham was demonstra-
tor.
A farewell party was herd
at Langside Community Hall
last Wednesday evening in
honour of Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Visser and family who
are moving out west to the
Peace River District in Alber-
ta, where their sons are
farming. They plan to start
an Abattoir out there. The
evening was spent in visit-
ing, playing cards and crok-
inole after which Mr. and
Mrs. Visser and family were
called to the front by Ross
Cayley. An address was read
by Mrs. Bob Mann and Dave
Moffat presented them with
a set of stainless steel
cutlery, a wail clock and a
plate and set of ty-inblers
with the Bruce' Tartan on
them. Mr. Visser thanked
everyone and said he had
enjoyed the thirteen years he
had lived here and Mrs.
Visser invited anyone travel-
ling through there to call on
them. All sang "For they are
jolly' good fellows" after
which a bountiful lunch was
served to end an enjoyable
evening.
Mrs. Bessie Farrell of
Bervie and Marilyn Moffat;
who has been visiting with
her sister, visited at the
home of Bill and Jessie Bates
in Teeswater on Wednesday
evening.
We are sorry to report hat
Mrs. Ernie Hanna is a
patient in Kitchener Hospit-
al. We hope she will be
feeling better soon.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Young of Lucknow returned
home on Friday evening after
holidaying in Edmonton with
Edna's sister and brother-in-
law. They really enjoyed
their visit.

Mrs. Clifford Young on
Saturday afternoon.
Road project
given :approval
All council was present for
the regular meeting on
August 8.
The tender of Saugeen
Spraying Co. Ltd. for resur-
facing the paved road from
Whitechurch northerly was
accepted for $2005.50, mat-
erials to be supplied and
applied.
An application for a tile
drainage loan by Howard
Pickard was accepted as was
a petition for drainage work
on lot 31 condession 2 and
along sideroad 30.
General accounts for
$34,056.12 and highways for
$43,027.52 were passed for
payment.
At a special meeting on
July • 17 and 24 court of
revisions was held on the
Guest Branch . of the Black
Creek Extension drain and
final reading was given to the

The Ministry of Transport
and Communications is to be
approached regarding the
construction of a sidewalk on
the north side of highway 86
in Whitechurch. Forty per
cent of the cost is to be paid
by. landowners fronting the
sidewalk less any amount
paid toward the project, by
° East Wawanosh and the.
remaining 60% is to be
divided equally between the
IM.T.C. and 'the township.
Motions were made to hire
Art Stanley for the position of
grader operator -labourer; to
grant $500.00 to the White-
church Community Hall
board for repairs to the hall
and finally to adjust the taxes
of David Miller in the amoun
of $155.78 for removal of ai
