Whitechurch W.I. holds public relations meeting

Whitechurch W.I. Public
Relations meeting was held
Wednesday evening, August
9 in the Community Memor-
ial Hall.
The meeting opened with
Mrs. A. Farrier filling in for
president, Miss Merle Wil-
son. The meeting opened
with the Institute Ode,
Collect, Lord's ` Prayer and a
warm welcome to all from the.
president.
The minutes were read by
the secretary, Mrs. George
Fisher. The correspondence
was read. The Hall Board is
sponsoring a dance Septem-
ber 15 and the program
committee, Mrs. F. Ross,
Mrs. A. Farrier, Mrs. Don
Ross and Mrs. L. Durnin are
to plan a' pregta`m` for fall.
The roll call was answered
by ' around 20 telling of a
commercial that annoys
them. Mrs. ` Bill Rintoul,
Public Relations Officer, pre-
sided. for the program.
Mrs, Rintoul gave the
P.R.O. report which was
given at Bruce South District
annual and which the con-
vener was requested to give
at her branch meeting.
Vickie Scott and Janet Laid-
law accompanied by Mrs. A.
Farrier, pianist, sang You
Light Up My Life and My
Best to You.
Mrs. Rintoul gave a few
pointers on being convener
and gave a set of rules for
each one to follow to be good
Public Relations officers such
as speak to people - be
friendly, be thoughtful of the
opinion of others.
The motto, Plant the seed
of friendship in your home
and it will soon bloom in the
community. When a new
neighbour moves in to"r>your
neighbourhood you remem-
ber how she hasp, left her
friends '.and is now among

Mrs. Rintoul introduced
Mrs. Bogues of Lucknow who
with her Macrame books and
coloured cords taught all the
basic ule • `of the -art. --Mrs:
'Bogues proved a very inter-
esting, humorous, instructor
and getting the yaurigffry as

interested in the work.
Mrs. Bogues was thanked
by Mrs. Rintoul'and present
ed with a gift ;from the
Institute. Lunch was served
by the ' committee. Mrs.
Rintoul conducted a birthday
contest with Mrs. Wallace
Conn winning the prize.

Bill Rintoul. Present for the
occasion were Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Gutoskie and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Camp-
bell of Kitchener, Mr. and
Mrs. Neil Rintoul and family
of West Wawanosh, Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Oberholtzer, Jef-
fery and Julie of Waterloo,
Mrs. Bill Rintoul, Leonard
Robinson and Mark., On
Monday Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Oberholtzer, Jeffery and Ju-
lie, took the car and Winne-
bago to Midland for a week's
holiday.

Mr. and Mrs. Angus Fal-
coner visited on Sunday with
Mr, and Mrs. Hector Purdon
of Strathroy. Hector goes in
hospital this week.
On Saturday the Y.P.S.
went to Toronto for a tour
and they visited Eaton's
Centre and Ontario Place. In
the party were Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Osborne, Mr. and
Mrs, Keith Humphrey, Les
Springer, Cindy Moore, Hil-
da de Boer, Karen Young,
Pam Springer, Kevin Falcon-
er, Lorie Purdon, David Ross
and Marty Young.
On Saturday in the village
the Sassing of time was once
again'annot facing itself when
an autetio u `sale by' auctioneer
°rian 'Rintoul,' was- held to
kelt the ' only ' store and
contents of the village,
owned by Mr. and Mrs. John
Moore. This •sale leaves the
village, • which at • one timer
had three stores, without a
store at all of any kind. As we
have elderly folk in the
village the service station is
going to try and have bread,
butter, and milk. It is the
hope that some one may
purchase the store in the
future. .
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin
on Saturday attended the
Highland Games at Fergus,
going by bus from Wingham.
Congratulations to Keith
'Bregman and Jean Lennips
who were married on Satur-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin of
Wingham on Sunday held a
celebration among the rela-
tives to. celebrate Dan's
mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Tif-
fin's 80th birthday. Those
present were Mr. and Mrs.

of Lucknow was a Saturday
visitor at the same home.
