The planting operation was done with my father plowing furrows ac- ross the field 51/2' apart and David Grant, a cousin, and 1 planting the pine seedlings that I had received from the Department of Forestry. • David was a teenager who was very interested in the whole operation and asked many questions about the whys, wheres and wherefor- es of the project. A year later David was 'drowned in the mill pond in (Lucknow while attending high school. I was one of the pallbear- ers at his funeral at Lochalsh Cemetery. It was a Scottish Custom, long since abandon- ed that the pallbearers were handed a shovel and it was their duty to help fill in the grave: Having had ._such close connections with David this was one of the hardest things that I was ever asked to do .and no doubt this being visible, it was not long until another man relieved me of the shovel. .
