diction was followed by a
memorial service at the
cemetery. The parish of St.
Augustine had its beginning
in the early 1850's as a
mission of Kingsbridge. The
first St. Augustine church
was a log structure built in
1857. In 1872 a new frame
church was erected. At the
turn of the century (1900) a
decision was made to build
the present stone church.
Father J. A. Hanlon was the
pastor at St. Augustine

church. In 1904 the new
church had its official open-
