Improvements
Renovations to the Dun-

the old chimneys have been
removed, and the outside
fances are presently being
painted. Some of the interior
walls have received a new
paint surface while others
are awaiting their comple-
tion. A much brighter, more
equipped kitchen with a new
tile floor has been accom-
plished by .the enthusiastic
workers of the Dungannon
community. Numerous other
improvements are taking
place.. All efforts are being
made to have the Dungannon
Agricultural Hall looking its
most admirable for the
Softball Tournament being
held this coming weekend at
the Dungannon Ball Park.

guests during the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Benson
Shackleton. Miss Valerie
Shackleton of Hanover was
home on Sunday and Mon-
day.
Esther Brown and Carl
Best of Sarnia spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
John Stanbury.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mac-
Donald from Ottawa visited
Saturday and Sunday with
his mother Mrs. Lillian
MacDonald, and Mr. Frank
Moulton. Ross is recuperat-
ing from an accident of a few
months ago.
On Monday Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Errington of Bald,erson,
near Ottawa, visited his
sister, Mrs. L. MacDonald,
and Mr. Moulton. They also
visited friends of long stand-
ing, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Errington.
Ina phone call from Mrs.
Howard Sager, nee Bernice
Durnin of Hamilton, it is
learned that her sister,
Lorraine, Mrs. Louis Mc -
Hardy, of Ancaster, had a
nasty fall n and suffered
bumps and fractures and has

Marine and General Hospit-
al, Goderich for two weeks.
The accident happened when
the wrong door over a
stairway was opened while
visiting friends in Godercih.
Crewe friends wish her a
speedy recovery.
Last weekend Mrs. Alvin
Sherwood visited former
neighbours Mr. and Mrs.
Ben DeRuiter and family in
London, and visited ,Alvin in
University Hospital. On
Wednesday Alvin was able to
return home.
Congratulations to Mr.
and Mrs. Neil Rintoul, nee
Helen McNee, of White-
church area, on the birth of a
baby boy, born Monday, July
24, 1978.
Congratulations also to
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Brindley
on the arrival of a baby girl
on Wednesday, July 26,
1978, at Goderich Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reed
and Jesse of Toronto have
been spending a few days at
their, summer home north of.
the village.
The cost of paving the
approach to the Dungannon
Cemetery was $1000. This
work was done in June when
the equipment was paving
that section of the 4th
concession in Ashfield.
The Craft Fairs at Lucknow
and Ripley attracted many
from this area.
Mr. and Mrs. Bi11 Blake,
Becky and Kara from Cam-
bridge (Galt) have been
holidaying on weekend at
Dungannon and Goderich.
The girls stayed with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene Ryan, during the
past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Glenn from- Escondido, Cali-
fornia, spent over two weeks
with his brother, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Glenn, and also
attended the Smith picnic at
Harbour Park, Goderich,
July 23rd. Also a sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Bridge from
Ridgetown pent a few days.

week Mr,' and Mrs. F. Glenn
accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Menary of 9th conces-
sion Ashfield on a 4 day
camping holiday, visiting
Gravenhurst, Oxtongue
Lake, and Owen Sound.
Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Errington over the weekend
were daughter, Sandra, and
husband, Ken Davidson, and
children, Laura and Scott,
from Surrey, B.C., and
Audrey Dale, Seaforth. They
also attended the Errington -
Alton reunion at Brookside
School and visited with the
Hackett relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie
Pearce from Brantford spent
a few days with the latter's
sister, Mrs. Charlie Hodgins,
in Wingham and called on
other relatives and friends on
Tuesday in the area.

Sean and Becky, included
Mrs. Henderson's mother,
Mrs. Rose McManus, from
Elora, accompanied by Mrs.
-Pat McManus and children,
Vincent, Chris, Sharon,

from Holstein, her sister and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Sobara, and Amanda from
Elora. Jason and Andy Mole
of Dungannon were also
guests at Sean's 3rd birthday
party July 25th.

sauga who were in visiting
her parents. Little Jesse
McMichael is just over a
heavy case of red measles.
Pat Brouillette of Tweed who
was working at Durham
spent a night recently at
McMichaels.

Glen Olson and two children
visited Mrs. Debbie , Meurs
and children at Strathroy on
Wednesday.

1978, Rev. Clyde Westhav-
er's sermon was "Christ the
Pilot".
A:stained glass window in
memory of Miss Celia Pent-
land was dedicated.
Miss Shelley Rivett,
church organist was pres-
ented with a gift by Mr.
Lloyd Hodges, chairman of
the music committee. Rev.
Westhaver expressed appre-
ciation for her .talent and
service.
United Church will be
closed for the month of
August when Rev. Westhav-
er has; holidays, and he will
be away from Dungannon
approximately August 7th to
29th. Rev. Leonard Wair of
Meneset Park has kindly
agreed to look after any
pastoral emergencies then.

Instead of August 2, 1978,
the W.I. Cultural Activities
meeting was held Wednes-
day, July 26, at the home of
Mrs. Jack clement.
The • Home and Country
magazines were distributed
and bills paid, 'then the
president, Mrs. George Er-
rington welcomed all. Mrs.
Harry Girvin read the minut-
es, the report of the treasur-
er, and the correspondence
which included (1) ploughing
match duties (2) Kraft labels
to be saved (3) thank you
from Wilma Clark *of Pine-
crest Nursing Home, Luck -
now (4) Erland Lee Home
sent thanks to those who
came there to quilt. - and
Mrs. Elmer Black gave an
interesting review of their
day's activities (5) next 4-H
project is to be "Essential
Edibles" and is to be spon-
sored again (6) Achievement
Day for Garden Club project
for our 12 girls' is at Wing -
ham, Thursday, August
17th.
A talk and demonstration
on drying and pressing
flowers and other plants was
both interesting and instruct-
ive. This was given by Mrs.
Gerald Feagan and her
daughter, Paula. Mrs. Wil-
mer Rutledge, convener for
