HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1978-07-12, Page 7Kinlough Stanley family holds reunion at Keewadyn Camp Latelmow Sentinel, Wednesday, July 12, 1978 --Page 7 BY MAY BOYLE Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Phillips of Fonthill visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Maulden and Keith and on their return home they took Frank's sister, Margaret and her friend to some places . of interest around the Welland Canal and Niagara Falls. They will return back here during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Linner of Goderich visited with relativ- es here at the home of their aunt, Mrs. G. Walsh. Mr. Leonard Stanley, Mrs. Peggy Elliott and her son, Stanley, returned to Michi- gan after spending the weekend with their sister, Mrs. Marretta Hodgins. Descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stan- ley met for their annual picnic at Keewadyn Camp on Saturday. 130 were present from California, Florida, St. Catharines, Niagara, Michi- gan and relatives from this area. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bates and Ed Jordan of Royal Oak, Michigan and Mr. and Mrs. Mike O'Dell also joined the family. Mr. Maurice McKinnon was the oldest gentleman present. Then on Sunday another family gath- ering was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Stanley and - family here. Horticultural Society tours Black Creek Village The Lucknow Horticultural Society took a bus trip on Thursday, July 6 to the Woodbridge - Klienburg ar- ea. The first stop was Black Creek Pioneer Village north of Toronto. The group visited, old shops and homes of pioneer days and took a wagon -ride to the museum which proved exciting. After a'three hour visit at the. village, they boarded a bus for Reeves Greenhouses in Woodbridge where, in 45 minutes, the group purchas- ed many bargains and learn- ed much about plants. "Any longer there and we would have needed a U -haul behind the bus," said 'Eunice Cun- ningham. At Klienburg the group visited the Art Gallery to see the works of the Group of Seven painters, which they found interesting. They enjoyed a salad plate at Honest Ed's School House, Caldedon, for sup- per. Homeward bound, discus- sion on the bus ranged from elephant and camel riding to where to 'go on next year's bus trip. And most of all who was eating ice cream! ' The group wishes to thank their bus driver, Cecil Garn- iss, who stopped for ice cream, waited for late arriv- als, who took a ribbing, all in good fun, and just put himself out for the group. "It was a fun day," said Eunice, "I know all came home with more knowledge in many ways, a feeling of having shared a day with friends, and tired but hap- py „ Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Boothman, Tracy and Myra of Lindberg, Alberta, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barr, Jeannette, Susan and Mur- ray. Visitors on Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. George Gra- ham were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ellacott of Toronto and -Mr. and Mrs. Ron . Duncan and Sarah of Mississauga. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Grant Ecken- swiller in the death of her brother, the late Gordon Valad. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. David Rhody . of Banaco, Mali, West Africa on the birth of their son, Kazim William, on June 28th. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Sutton of Teeswater and formerly of here who celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Nich- olson and Brandon returned to their home at Wallace - burg. Larry Evans of Erin' and Jamie Langford of Woodstock are holidaying with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson. Recent dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mac4 her - son of Holyrood were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Maulden and Keith of Kinlough and Mrs. Margaret Wilkinson and Mrs. B. Boast of Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Miss Heather Jupp of Guelph is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Lane, Janet, Joyce and Judy. Mrs. Fred Page and Ros- ita, while visiting,in Toronto with Dr. and Mrs. Iman Mohamed and Michael, were also afternoon tea guests of Mrs. Ron Chatten, Rev. Alex Hewitt of St. Christopher's Anglican Par- ish, Burlington, visited on Saturday with Mr. and .Mrs. George Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nichol- son, Miss Lois Nicholson and Mr. Bob Geddes were guests at the Hedley-Kropf wedding at Tiverton Presbyterian Church on Saturday. The many friends of Mr. Roy Schneller of Wingham formerly of here, are sorry that he is a patient in St. Joseph's, London. We wish him improved health. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott went on Sunday to Detroit where they visited with Mr. and Mrs, Rudy Sieloff and Calvin. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nichol- son attended the Cuyler family picnic on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Stark of Kincardine visited on Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson and Lois. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barr and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hamilton, visit- ed on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Easton Hamilton at Red Bay. Mrs. John McInnes of Wingham, and formerly of here, is a patient in the Wingham and. District Hos- pital. W.e wish her improved health.
