The Committee will hold a public hearing at: Bruce Township Community Centre Underwood, Ontario 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Kinloss Central Public on June 2L Left to right, Liane Young received the Girls' proficiency award; Chad Mann was awarded the Boys' proficiency; Katrina Howald received the English award; Linda Searle received the John Nicolson Art Award; Dawn Nicolson was awarded the public speaking award and Helen VanSligtenhorst received the junior girl field day award. Kinloss Central student awards The final assembly of the year was held ' at Kinloss Central on June 21. During the assembly Mrs. A. MacDonald presented proficiency awards to the Grade 5 students. The girl's and boy's proficiency troph- ies were won by Liane Young and Chad Mann. Katrina Howald received the award 'for English proficiency. A hot dog sale followed with the proceeds going to the Junior Red Cross. The Junior Field, Day for children ages 6 to. 10 were held recently at the Kinloss Central Public School. Holyrood Happenings BY LYNNE NICOLSON Readers BEWARE, a dis- ease is lurki5g in Jhe area. It 'seems tp continually arrive in this area on June 21. It; snakes one overly happy and • tends to affect the young and older males especially, Wo- men on the most part seem to find it a nuisance. They notice with some concern that they are invaded by creatures from a place called school and now have no time to themselves. They are obliged to take these creat- ures to the local swimming pool almost every day unless there happens to be a pool close by. The only cure is to head immediately to the North Pole. The disease my friends is Summer. I will now proceed and show you how the disease has affected this area. Well, school is out and so as happens every year award ceremonies were held at Lucknow and Kinloss Central Public Schools. At Kinloss five awards were presented. Girls general proficiency was awarded to Liane Young, the boy's proficiency went to Chad Mann. The English proficiency went to Katrina Howald. The Nicolson Mem- orial Award for Art ability was presented to Linda Searle who also received art materials as well as the trophy. This year a new award was presented for Public Speaking. It was awarded to Dawn Nicolson. At Lucknow Public there was also a new award presented. The award is fpr English ability and was donated and presented by Mr. S. Collyer, former principal of Lucknow Public School. This year -the award was presented to Beth Gingrich of Holyrood." Con- gratulations Beth. Some band members of this area attended the band picnic which was followed by a conert given by the band at Harbour Park, Goderich. The girls and the rest of their dancing class who are taught by Chris MacDonald, Ripley, per- formed some Scottish Danc- ing. The Ball was held to raise money for the .Kincard- ine Pipe Band who want to purchase new uniforms as they are travelling to Scot- land some time in the future.
