Congratulations to Mr.
and Mrs. Carman Whytock's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Whytock, of Teeswater, cele-
brating their 50th wedding
anniversary on Sunday at
their home. Their family
gave them money .for a trip
out west.

celebration where Mr. and

and Mrs. Bill Rintoul gather-
ed for the occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Mowbray, to celebrate Fath-
er's Day, were invited to Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Wilsons' of
Wingham on Saturday where
other members, Mr. and
Mrs. Ron Seddon, Brantford,
Mr. and Mrs. Angus Mow-
bray, Wingham and 7 Jima
Wilson were present. Bob
was presented with several
gifts. Mrs. R. Mowbray had
to attend a wedding also on

they had been invited.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Tiffin, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Purdon and Mrs. Robert
Mowbray on Saturday, June
17 attended the wedding at
Knox Presbyterian Church,
Guelph, of Joyce Henderson
and Kenneth Green. Joyce is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Henderson. The recep-
tion was held at Sacred Heart
Hall.
Charlie Falconer of Tiver-
ton on Sunday visited friends
and relatives.
Mr. and\ Mrs. Brian Fal-
coner of Sarnia spent the
weekend with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Milli-
gan and other relatives.
- While putting in a drain on
the North Street they had the
misfortune to break the
water line which caused the
water to be off that day.

Simmons of London visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.

weekend Mr. and Mrs. Athol

ham and District Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Guto-

of Kitchener spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Rintoul.
We are sorry to report that
Gordon Rintoul was taken on
Friday evening to Wingham
and District Hospital. The
community wishes him a
speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Fells
of Whitby were callers Thur-
sday afternoon with Mrs.
Ben McClenaghan and Mr.
and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan.
To celebrate Mrs. Ben
McClenaghan's eighty-first
birthday on Sunday, Mrs.
Eileen Parker and Steven of
Exeter and Mr. and Mrs.
Irwin McClenaghan and
Mrs. Mark Duffy of St.
Thomas were present and.
remembered her with gifts.
Hugh Simpson and Dave
Miller have been on a 10 day
trip to the Peace River
District and are expected
home tomorrow.
The trailer at Mrs. Agnes
Farriers was removed on the
weekend by the purchasers,
to the Walker sideroad.

Ann Jamieson of White-
church 4-H club who is one of
seven 4-H girls chosen by
home economists to repres-
ent Bruce County at the
Leadership Conference on
June 20th to June 23rd at the
Guelph. University. There
will be around two hundred
girls from all around Ontario.
Mr. and Mrs. G. F.
McGowan of London spent
the weekend with their
daughter, Mrs. Ronald Jami-
eson, Mr. Jamieson and
family of East Wawanosh.
Mr. and Mrs. Rex Richard-
son of Livonia, Michigan are
visiting with Hugh Sinnamon
and Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
Beecroft and Karen.

Friday evening and Satur-

Mr. and Mrs. Tom David-
son took their grandchildren
Tommie, Christine and Tam-
my Smith to Hamilton on the
weekend and then they were
taken to the African Safari at
Rockton on Sunday. There
father Jerry Smith brought
them home.
Congratulations to Mr.
and Mrs. Russel Qapnt of
Wingham who quietly cele-
brated their 45th wedding
anniversary on Saturday.
Mrs. Agnes Farrier arriv-
ed home on Monday after
spending a week with Mr,
and Mrs. Jack Gillespie and
attending Lorraine's wed-
ding.
Obituary....
An early pioneer of the
Ripley area, Mrs. Edith
Haldenby, wife of the late
samuel 'Richard . Haldenby,
died on Tuesday, June 13, '
1978 at the Wingham bald
District Hospital.
The former Edith Moore
was born in 1892 on the 4th
concession of Huron Town-
ship,- on the farm now
occupied by Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Coiling.
She took her schooling at
S. S. # 12 Huron and Ripley
High School. After marriage,
they established a grocery
business at Kincardine, later
moving to Toronto where she
took a wide interest in hand
crafts. She returned to the
area on several occasions to
give classes in smocking.
Surviving are two t sons,
Lorne of Ottawa and Preston
of Toronto; four grandchild -
Pen, Eric, Nancy, Linda and
atricia; and one great
grandson, Kenneth. - ,
The funeral service was
held on Thursday, June 15 at
2 o'clock from the MacKen-
zie -McCreath Funeral Home,
Ripley, with Rev. Jim Bush-
ell officiating. Burial was
in Ripley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert
Campbell, Robert Osborne,
Roy Jackson, Carrick Col -
ling, Austin Martin, and
Duncan McCallum.
Friends and relatives at-
tending the funeral service
were from Toronto, Ottawa,
Montreal" and surrounding
area and were later welcom-
ed at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Osborne, cousin
of the deceased, for refresh-
ments.
