HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1978-06-21, Page 17FORAN - PLAETZER Yellow roses, white and yellow daisies and candel- abra formed a pretty setting in Knox United Church, Auburn when Sherry Lynn Plaetzer and Terry James Foran were united in mar- riage on Saturday, May 20. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer, R. R. 1 Auburn and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Foran, 'R. R. 2 Auburn. The Reverend Earl St. Jean performed the double ring ceremony assisted by Father Ed Dentinger. The organist was Mr. Charles Merrill, R. R. 2 Clinton, uncle of the bride. The bride entered the church as Mrs. Greg Park sang the Wedding Song. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a floor length gown of white nylon organza featuring an empire waistline and long front lace trimmed panel. The lace trim ed bodice had a lace kchiq se collar and long leg-o=mutton lace trimmed sleeves with large lace cuffs. The skirt had two large frills on the bottom which formed a flowing train at the back and had taffeta and net underskirts. She wore a lace covered Juliet cap trimmed with pearls which held the elbc w length double veil of silk illusion. She also wore a gold locket. She carried a boquet of yellow roses and white and yellow daisies. Miss Wanda Plaetzer, sis- ter of the bride, was the maid of honour. She wore a long light green dress of eyelet over taffeta polyester with a large frill collar, low neckline and a large frill at the bottom. She carried a white basket of yellow and white daisies and baby's breath. Bridesmaid was Mrs: Ger- ry Bowland, of Montreal, sister ofthegroom. She wore t long light green dress styled identically to that of the maid of honour and both wore small flowers in their hair and carried the white baskets of flowers. The flower girl was Paula George of Halifax, niece of the groom and she wore a long white dress featuring short puff sleeves and carri- ed a miniature basket of yellow and white daisies. The groom wore an off- white tuxedo with a yellow rose boutonniere. The groomsman was his brother, Frank Foran, R. R. 2 Lucknow and the guests were ushered by his brother Tom Foran, R. R. 2 Auburn. Both wore green tuxedos with a white daisy boutonniere. The ring bearer was Regan. Millian, R. R. 5 Goderich, cousin of the bride. He wore a tuxedo similar to the groom. -- Taking. part' in the service was Mr. Maurice Bean, neighbour of the bride, Mrs. Charles Merrill, Clinton, aunt of the bride, and Kathleen and Margaret For- an sisters of the groom. The soloist,.... Mrs......... Park,._....s.ang...... while the register was being signed and Elliott Lapp sang the Lord's Prayer and the Wedding Prayer, during the service. Father Dentinger gave the message. A reception followed in the Auburn Community Memor- ial Hall where the bride's mother assisted the wedding party receiving the guests, wearing a two-piece floor length gown of coral polyest- er crepe featuring an accord- ian pleated skirt, lace bodice and a long sleeved lace jacket. She wore a corsage of coral and white roses. She was assisted by the groom's mother, wearing a long blue gown of polyester crepe featuring a pleated skirt and flowing pleated sleeves. She wore a corsage of pink roses. White wedding bells and green streamers and wed- ding cake and candelabra Music recital Mrs. Marion Gamble's pupils entertained their par- ents, relatiyes and friends at the annual musical program Saturday, June 10th at 8 p.m. in the United Church Sunday School room, Ripley. The following students took part, Mary Lynne Hun- ter, Karen McDonald, Mich- ael Hunter, Sheila Osborne, Lynne and Dawn Nicolson, Jean Anne Smeltzer, Janet Lane, Christine Cover, Mich- elle Edwards, Rodney Sut- ton, Ian Culbert, Leah Coul- beck, Janice Needham, Mar- lene Murray, Paul Culbert, Joan Osborne, Joyce Osbor- ne. Larry Needham favoured with his bag pipes. Larry spent Saturday in George- town playing in a competi- tion. He placed eighth out of eighteen competitors. Michelle Edwards also played the Brass Baritone. She prays in the Lucknow Concert Band and recently enjoyed a four day tour with the Lucknow group visiting important places in Ontario, including a Lions Club con- vention and parade in Bram- pton, .where the band placed second in their category. Following the program a social hour was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gamble. decorated the hall and Larry Plaetzer, brother of the bride, was master of cere- monies. He proposed a toast to the bride and groom and they replied and toasted to their parents. Lawrence Plaetzer and John Foran replied. Frank Foran toasted the bridesmaids arid Mrs. Gerry Bowland and, Betty Jane Foran, sisters of the groom replied and welcomed Sherry into the family. All the guests were invited to the Plaetzer home to view the gifts. An open reception ,follow- ed in the Blyth Community Centre with dancing to the Country Cavaliers. Mr. and Mrs. Foran took a wedding trip to Halifax and have now taken up residence in Woodstock. Special guests at the wedding were the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Free of Auburn. Other guests were present from Halifax, Montreal, Lon- don, Lucknow and the sur- rounding area. HARRISON REUNION The 43rd. Harrison Reun- ion was held at the Clinton Conservation Area on Satur- day, June 10, 1978 with 54 in attendance. It was a beauti- ful sunny day which every- one enjoyed while taking part in an array of games conducted by Bruce and Marie Collins, Dorothy Aird- rie and Jo -Anne Collins.
