to Mrs. Vincent (Idell) Aust-
in, Mr. Austin andefamily on
the sudden passing of Idell's
aunt, Mrs. Elton Draper, the
former Clara Willis at her
home in Port Albert on
Friday, June 16 in her 68th
year. Her body rested at the
McCallum Funeral Home,
Goderich where funeral serv-
ice was conducted on Mon-
day, June 19 at 2 ,p.m.
Interment was in tile Christ
Church Cemeter at Port
Albert.
Reverend Father Edward
J. Dentinger, C.R. celebrat-
ed his 35th anniversary of
Ordination to the Priesthood
on Monday, June 12, 1978.
Father Dentinger, a native
of Formosa received his high
school education at St. Jer-
ome's College, Kitchener;
his seminary training and
University at London and
graduated with a degree in
Honours Philosophy. He was
ordained in June of 1943. He
became pastor of St. Jos-
eph's Parish, Kingsbridge,
St. Augustine and St.
Mary's, Lucknow Roman
Catholic churches In July,
1972. Anniversary celebra-
tions were held in St.
Joseph's Parish Hall at
Kingsbridge on Wednesday
afternoon, June 14. Cards
were played followed by
social hour: Father was
presented with a gift certifi-
cate from the members of the
Kingsbridge Catholic Wom-
en's League. Anniversary
cake and ice cream were
served. Congratulations, Fa-
ther.
Sincere sympathy is ex-
tended to Mrs. Fred (Mary)
Crawford, Mr. Crawford and
members of the Crawford
family on the death of Mrs.
Crawford's mother, Mrs.
Wilfrid (Helen) Smith. Her
body rested at the McCallum
Funeral Home, Goderich at 7
p.m.. Sunday until Tuesday
morning when, requiem mass
was celebrated at St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church,
Goderich at 11 a.m. Inter-
ment was in St. Peter's
Cemetery,, Goderich.
Mrs. Eldon Austin was
admitted_ to the Alexandra
Marine and General Hospit-
al, Goderich on Monday,
June 12. Her many friends
wish her a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Gordon Congram of
Ashfield Township joined
with 42 others on a four day
bus tour to • Oquaga Lake
House Resort in New York
State. They left Goderich on
Friday morning, June 9th
returning home on Monday
night, ' June 12. A very
enjoyable trip was had by all.
Sympathy is extended to
the family, relatives and
friends of Mrs. Ester Rivett,
formerly of Ashfield Town-
ship who passed away at her
home in Goderich on Friday,
June 16 in her 77th year. Her
body rested at the Stiles
Funeral Home, Goderich
where funeral service was
held on Monday, June 19.
Interment was in the Mait-
land Cemetery.
Students attending high
schools in, ....,Wingham and
Goderich with no exams to
write started summer holi-
days on Wednesday, June
14. Congratulations.
Reverend Father Ed Den-
tinger and Brother Carl Voll
are on Retreat in Waterloo
during this week. Reverend
Father Caughlin of St. Aug-
ustine had been on Retreat
last week.
Several car loads of con-
cerned parents from Kings-
bridge and area attended -the
meeting held in the Clinton
Secondary School on Tues-
day, June 13 to hear the
panel discussion regarding
the use of certain books in
Huron County high schools.
On the panel were members
of the Writer's Guild, June
Callwood - a non fiction
writer; Alice Munro - fiction;
Janet Lunn - Children's
writer and Steve Osterlund -
poet. Each spoke for 10
minutes outlining reasons
the books should not be
removed from the approved
lists of textbooks. During a
lengthy question and answer
period that had to be stopped
became of the lateness of the
hour, 16 persons (11 adults
and 5 youths) voiced their
concern over the use of
English books containing
questionable language and
morals. Speaking in favour of
the books,lour adults and six
young people 'said the stud-
ents were • mature enough to
make their own judgement.
The Annual Parish . Picnic
will take place on Sunday,
July 12 at the Ashfield Park,
concession 12, ,Ashfield, be-
ginning at 2 p.m. There will
be games, prizes and treats
for all.

tended to Mr. John Van-
Rooy, Mrs. VanRooy and
members of the VanRooy
family on receiving the word
from Holland of the death of
John's mother, on Sunday,
June 18th.
The Kingsbridge Youth
Club honoured all Fathers
and Mothers on Father's
Day, Sunday, June 18,
immediately following the
10.30 a.m. Mass. Carnations
were given. Hot dogs,
doughnuts, coffee or freshie
was served in the parish hall
followed by a social get to
gether.

man of ,Holland are visiting
with his sister; Mrs. (Reis)
Marie Miltenburg, Mr. Mil-
tenburg and family. Week-
end and Sunday visitors, ith
the Miltenburg family were

family, London. Mr. and
Mrs. Jan Marsman returned
to Sudbury with Mr. and
Mrs. Hank de Bruyn for this
week.
Birthday celebrations held
in St. Joseph's Parish Hall,
Kingsbridge on Wednesday
afternoon, June 14 honoured
., , Brother Carl Voll, Leo Rosin-
ke, John O'Connor, Frank
Sullivan, Bernardine Kinney
and Mary Frayne. An after-
noon of cards was enjoyed.
The high winners were John
O'Connor and Mary Frayne.
Birthday cards, and gifts
were presented to each of the
celebrants. Birthday cake,
cookies and ice cream were
served by members of the
Kingsbridge Catholic Wom-
en's League. A social hour
followed.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter J.
Vogt and daughter Julie
visited with relatives in
Southfield, Michigan last
weekend and while there
attended the wedding of
Mrs. Vogt's nephew, Mr.
James Zrembski to Sandy
Royek at St. Mel's Church,
Southfield, Michigan on Sat-
urday, June 10. Dinner and
reception was held at the
Raleigh House.

resides at the home, of his
daughter, Mrs. Mark Dalton,

Kingsbridge and gave a
worthwhile presentation on
water safety to all grades on
Tuesday, June 13.
Wednesday, June 14 saw
the St. Joseph's Kingsbridge
Track and Field team travel
to Wingham for Zone compe-
titions. Congratulations to
Bobby Austin, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Wilfred Austin who
won the Senior Boys Honours
in the Zone. Other schools
taking part were St. Mary's,
Goderich; St. Joseph's, Clin-
ton; and Sacred Heart,
Wingham; Willy Hendriks
and Denise Connelly were
runners up in their division.
Studentsz that placed first
were Lisa Frayne, standing
long jump; Linda Sinnette,
running long jump; Liz Vogt,
softball throw; Denise Con-
nelly, 400 metres;. Willy
Hendriks, 200 metres and
400 metres; Jackie Dalton,
200 metres and 800 metres;
Rose Marie O'Keefe, 100
metres, standing long, jump;
Bobby Austin, long jump and
triple jump; Lonny Doherty,
standing long jump.
Student council elections
are under way with all
members of the ` council
contesting positions. Linda
Sinnett and Shawn Doherty
are running . for president.
Mike Austin, Billy Card and

for vice president and for
