13 in the Town Hall. This year's executive gathered Or a picture to commemorate the

The following additional
information to the obituary of
Wilhelmine Rutherford ap-
peared in the Kitchener -
Waterloo Record and it is
reprinted here for the inter-
est of our readers.
Miss Rutherford was head
of the History Department at
Kirkland Lake Collegiate and
Vocational Institute for a
number of years. She was
one of the school's first
teachers. When s she began
teaching in Kirkland Lake
there were only eight rooms
in the school and approxi-
mately two hundred stud-
ents. Mr. Danard was the
principal of the school at the
time.
The many students whom
she taught remember her as
a dedicated teacher,
During her teaching car-
eer, Miss Rutherford also
taught in other Ontario
Secondary Schools including
Timmins and Fergus. She
retired in 1950 and moved_ to
Lucknow in ,Huron County
where she had spent the
early years of her life.

sary of the Women's Insti-
tute on Tuesday evening,
June 13th.
Past and present members
of the Lucknow group, as
well as guests from neigh-
bouring Institutes, enjoyed
an evening of entertainment
and recalling memories of
former years.
Mrs. Philip Stewart and
Mrs. George Whitby wel-
comed the 60 guests and
Mrs. Wes Ritchie supplied
music prior to the meeting.
The president, Mrs. Mary
MacGillivray, conducted the
meeting which opened with a
poem "Moments to Remem-
ber". Mrs. George Whitby.
and Mrs. Wilbur Brown
reported on the District
Annual. It was suggested
that the Lucknow Institute
—attend the Blyth Festival in
July.

Everyone Welcome
member of the W.I. and a
former District President
gave an up to date renew of
the work accomplished by
the Lucknow Institute since it
was organized in February
1908. Dealing specifically
with the past 10 years she
outlined briefly the many
projects undertaken in the
community for the improve-
ment of Home and Country.
Her closing thought was
"One day is a little life and it
is up to all of us how we use
it."
Music was enjoyed by the
Song -birds, Mrs. Howard
Barger, Mrs. Jack Wraith,
Mrs. Mary MacQillivray and
Mrs. Grace Gibson, singing
"The Old Spinning Wheel"
and "When You and I were
Young, Maggie". Commun-
ity singing was conducted by
Mrs. E. Rice with Mrs. Wes
Ritchie at the piano.
Former institute members
Mrs. Joe MacMillan, Mrs.
Hattie VanArmon, and Mrs.
Wellington. Henderson spoke
briefly, recalling pleasant
years spent as valued W.I.
members.
Stephen Pritchard, accom-
panied by his mother, Mrs.
Tom Pritchard, sang two
delightful solos, "The White
Cliffs of Dover" and "Danny
Boy". He was thanked and
presented with a gift by Mrs.
Grace Campbell.

'Howard Barger), Mrs. Do
More (Mrs. Grace Camp-
bell), Mrs. Brown (Mrs.
George Kennedy), Mrs. Do
Less (Mrs., Raymond Leddy),
Miss Thompson (Mrs. •Mary
MacGillivray).
The meeting closed with
singing the Queen and
Institute Grace after which
Mrs. Philip Stewart cut the
anniversary cake and lunch
was served.
