R. 2 Auburn, graduated June 15 from Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology in London, from the Medical Secretary program, short- hand major. She has accept- ed a position with Drs. MacKenzie, Sweeney and Meads in London. JANET MacPHERSON daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William MacPherson, R. R. 1 Lucknow, graduated from Fanshawe College in the Medical Secretarial Course, shorthand major, on June 15. She is employed at London Life Insurance Company, London, Ontario. DR. G. RUSSELL MONCRIEF son of George and Betty Moncrief, Goderich• R. R. 3, received his Dr. Veterinary Medicine at convocation cer- emonies June 2nd, at the University of Guelph. Attending the cermonies were his parents and sister Jane Hunter. Following the ceremonies a dinner was held at the Elora Mill. Dr. Moncrief is employed at Ripley -Huron Veterinary Services. JOAN HACKETT graduated from Fanshawe College on Thursday, June 15, 1978 from the Legal Secretarial program. Those attending the graduation ceremony were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Hackett,' Mr. Terry Hays and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Walker. Joan is employed at the office of Mr. D. Gerald Hiltz, Barrist- er, Clinton, Ontario. MRS. MARJORIE FRANCISCO daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Burt, graduated on Friday, June 2,. 1978 at Bethesda..Training' Centre in Willowdale. The Bethesda Training Centre is part of North York General Hospital in ;Toronto. Marjorie has resided in Don Mills for the past five years where she worked as a nurses aide in a nursing home. After writing the registration examination on June 23 she hopes to be employed as a 1 NA in Toronto: This is the last graduating RNA course to be offered at this Centre. CATHERINE SIMPSON youngest daughter of Mr.. and Mrs. Robert M. M. Simpson, Kintail, graduated recently from the Wingham Nursing Assistant Training Centre, Wingham, . Ontario. ZANY ZUCCHINIS Dungannon 1 4-H club held the second meeting at the home . of Mrs. Jean Errington. Nancy Sproul read the minutes from the last meeting. Annabel Stew- art is the /text secretary - press reporter. For business the girls voted on a club nickname and chose, Zany Zucchinis. They decided to buy light green duo -tangs for the book cov- ers. The members are to bring designs for the cover to the next meeting which will be held at the home of Mrs. Marie Stewart.. _.._ The discussion material .was on "Preparing Soils", "Growing Young Plants for Transplanting", "Planting the Garden", "Looking after your Garden", and "Plant- ing and Care of Flowers". Mrs'. Stewart handed ' out pamphlets to use for refer- ences and to put in the books. For Group Work the girls prepared a sample garden. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from McMaster. University on May 27, 1978. Marilyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood Irwin, former resid- ents' of the Lucknow area. She `was on the. Dean's Honour List and gave the valedictory address ' at the pinning ceremony of her class. Horticultural Society Meeting The Lucknow Horticultural Society held their regular' monthly meeting in the Legion Hall on Wednesday, June 14, with a good attend- ance. In the absence of our president, Audrey MacDon- ald, Eunice Cunningham chaired the meeting. Cather- ine Andrew , gave the treas- urer's report and Jessie Kirkland, our secretary, re- ported on the success of the spring tee. The members discussed a bus trip and it was decided to go on July 6th to Reeves' Nursery at Woodbridge. The Society decided to have a display at the Plowing Match in September. The members sang a few old tyme favourite numbers with Edith Webster at the piano. A very successful plant sale was held with Eunice Cunningham as auctioneer.
