Pat Beasley, R. R. 2 Lucknow, has just returned from Europe where he competed hi
Moto -cross motorcycle races in England and France. He finds that the European races with
the slippery grass track require more skill than speed. He plans to compete hi the Molson Pro

he competed in moto-cross
motorcycle races.
The European tracks are
not as fast as the tracks in
Canada and Pat learned that
the . racer required skill
instead of speed in competi-
tion there. "The tracks are
twice as difficult," he said,
"They are slippery grass
instead of dry dirt. „They're
muddy with little corners."
He placed sixth in several
of the big races and won
some of the local races in
which he competed.
He was disheartened be-
cause he was not winning
while in Europe but when he
returned to Canada he found
the track here seemed twice
as easy where it was difficult
before. He has won two races
since coming back.
He plans to compete in the
Molson Pro Series in Ontario
and in the Quebec Pro -Select
Series this summer.
He has been sponsored by
Maico-Canada but, they are
not sponsoring any racer
with full sponsorship this
summer so Pat intends to
sponsor himself. He could
ride another make of bike

ship from another company
but, he feels Maico is the
best bike and he would
rather ride this make, even if
he has to buy his own.
He has also done flat track
racing since his return to
Canada. Like . snowmobile
racing, speed is the factor as
the bikes race round an oval
dirt track, sliding around
corners. Pat had to learn to
slide ' around_ the corners,
because moto-cross racing is
a different style. He says he
is not serious about the flat
track racing, but expects he
will compete in several. He._

Taxes for 1978 will be
almost exactly the same as
last year due to some
increase in assessment, a
decrease in county rate and
an • increase in Ontario
grants, all of which is
practically offset by the
increase in education levies.

Correction
Pictures of the Wacky
Widow in last week's Sentin-
el were identified incorrectly.
Robert Johnstone, R. R. 2
Wingharn, played the sher-
iff, not Russell McGuire as
stated. The Wacky Widow
was not pictured. Instead,
the picture showed the
fortune teller, Mrs. George
Kennedy, R. R. 1 Lucknow.
In the Lancer hockey
pictures, the ,cutiines for two
pictures were switched. The
pictures of Harvey Living-
ston with Graham Hamilton
and Lynn Armstrong with
Hary Livingston were !rever-
sed.
We apologize for any
inconvenience,these errors
may have caued.
