Sally Jane Dorscht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dorscht, of R. R. 2 Lucknow. Mr. and Mrs. William J. Chantler of London are the grooms parents. Miss Stacy Purney, friend of the bride, was maid of honour. Bridesmaid was Mrs. Judy Palsa, sister of the bride. Brian Armes, friend of the groom was best Than. Terry Williams, friend of the groom and Don and Doug Dorscht, brothers of the bride, were ushers. .Rev. Albert Cook officiated. Organist, Mrs. Ann Pritchard, of R. R. 2 , Lucknow, accompanied soloist; Larry MacPherson, R. R. 1 Lucknow. A reception followed at Lucknow Legion Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Chantler'will reside in London. A cleaning bee was held in Purple Grove Community Centre Wednesday morning, June 7. Mrs. Earl Elliott attended the worship services at Camp Kintail this weekend. Mr. and.. Mrs. Donald McCosh and Mrs. Gladys Arnold visited with Mr. and Mrs. Melville Oree of Conn on Thursday: Several from Purple Grove attended the Kincardine Community Singers presen- tation of "Memories" in the township hall on Friday night. Community Bible Study was held at the home of Mrs. Elliott on Tuesday morning. Several from Purple Grove attended St. Matthew's Ang- lican Church supper at Kingarf on Sunday evenifig. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrell, Mrs. Howard Thompson, Mrs. John Gamble and Mr. Gordon Patterson attended the District 10 meeting of the Agricultural Society in Mark - dale. Several from Purple Grove attended the Apple Blossom Tea,, Bazaar and Bake Sale the Armow Women's Insti- tute had on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sutton and family were dinner guests on Sunday George King in 1ervie. Mr. and Mrs. Farrell visited with Mr. Cecil Sutton on of Mrs. Jack and Mrs. Sunday. Mrs, Marretta Hodgins and Mrs. Garnet Tinney visited with friends at Lond- on and Glencoe during the week. Mrs. Bert Nicholson re- turned home from an enjoy- able few days with Mr. and Mrs. Truman Fillinger at Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Teixeira returned to South Burnaby, B.C. after holiday- ing with her mother, Mrs. Agnes Hodges, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haldenby were guests at the wedding of their grand niece, Kathleen pains and Harold Edwards on June 3rd at Knox Presbyterian Church, Georgetown, and the recep- tion at "Someother Place", Huttonville. They spent the weekend in Toronto, return- ing home on Tuesday night. Mr. and Mrs. William Haldenby and .Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Halde,pby attended the funeral ofA'their cousin, the late Mrs. Maud Hall, at Kincardine, on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Peggy Elliott return- ed to Detroit after visiting with her sister, Mrs. Marret- ta Hodgins. Mrs. Irene MacKenzie of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Dr. and Mrs. D'Arcy Bruce of Owen Sound were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott. Mrs. Mac- Kenzie will remain here where she will visit with relatives. Mrs. Marretta Hodgins and other relatives were guests at the Stanley-Dornin- ico wedding at Pinewood Motor Inn, North Bay. She also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thompson while there. Mrs. Thompson was the fotmer Alice Hodgins. Anglican Church Women's June meeting was at Mrs. Bert Nicholson's home with Mrs. Gertrude Walsh and Mrs. George Graham co - hostesses. Mrs. Delbert Hedley presided and wel- comed everyone and Mrs. Arthur Haldenby read the scripture with prayer's fol- lowing. Miss Edna Boyle gave the meditation and also the report of the South Saugeen Deanery meeting which the ladies attended at St. Luke's .Church, Lurgan on Tuesday. Mrs. Ronald Thacker, gave the minutes and finanical statement and all were so grateful to Mrs. Lenore, (Logan) Sutherland of Tor- onto for a generous donation. A letter received from the Right Reverend William A. Townshend of London (form- erly of this church) was read. The ladies had sent him a letter and a card of congratu- lations on the occasion of his 80th birthday in June. He was delighted to have been remembered. Mrs. Gertrude Walsh thanked the ladies who had shown her kindness in so many ways at the time of the death of her brother, the late Henry Scott. As there will not be meetings in the months of July or August, Mrs. Roy Collins asked the ladies to save certain things which will come in handy at the time of the Bazaar and Tea to mark 65 years of the women's organization in this congre- gation. Some of the things the ladies have already on hand were displayed. Mrs. Arthur Haldenby invited the ladies to her home for the September meeting and thanked the hostesses. JACK VanOSCH Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van- Osch celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sat- urday, May 27th. The celebration began with a special Anniversary Mass at St. »Joseph's, Kings- bridge, where the couple were members for twenty- seven years before moving to Lucknow. Dinner was served in the Church Hall, followed by a reception at the Lucknow Community Centre where their many relatives, friends and neighbours ,came to extend their best wishes. Jack VanOsch and Johan- na Goemans were both born in Holland in 1900 where they were married ion May 22nd, 1928. In 1949, looking for a brighter future for their young family, they immi- grated to Canada. They arrived at Amberley in August of that year where Jack worked for Chester Campbell until purchasing a farm on the 12th concession of Ashfield in 1950. They lived there until 1964 when Joe, their son, took over the farm. They moved to a home which they purchased at Kingsbridge until they mov- ed to. Lucknow in December, 1976. The couple have a family of two daughter, Dora, Mrs. Morris Schuurmans, of Lon- don; Johanna, Mrs. Tony Middigael, of Blyth; five sons, Bill, who operates the Kintail General Store; Pete, Antone and Joe, all dairy farmers in Ashfield, and John, a Separate School Principal, who lives in Wat- erloo. A son Jack died in February, 1964. Both. Mr. and Mrs. Van- Osch have several brothers and sisters still living in Holland. They were honour- ed on their Special Occasion, by having two of Jack's sisters, a brother-in-law and a,sister-in-law, the wife of his. oldest brother now deceased, ,visit with them for three weeks from Holland. Mr. and . Mrs. "VanOsch received several cards of congratulations, flowers, gifts, etc. wishing them many more years of a happy life together.
