South Saugeen
Deanery Day
The A.C.W. of St. Luke's
Anglican Church, Pine River
(Lurgan) had the honour of
hosting the South Saugeen
Deanery Day on June 6th for
the first time. About 90
ladies registered. Everyone
entered the church for Holy
Communion. Celebrant was
rector Rev. J. R. King and
lay assistant, Mrs. Les Petter
of Kincardine. •
Before assembling in the
Parish Hall for the meeting
the president of St. Luke's,
Mrs. Frieda Collins, briefly
outlined and related some
history of the church and
extended greetings and a
welcome to all present.

Rev. Ministers met for their
session at the home of Mr.
Wm. Collins and the Dean-
ery. president, Mrs. Marjean
King, of Kincardine and
secretary treasurer, Mrs.
Norma Warner, of Hanover
held the meeting in the
parish hall.
After the . minutes and
business there was informa-
tion given about what Angli-
can Church Women are
doing in the wide mission of
the church. Freda Jacob of
Kincardine, Deanery repres-
entative, gave a report.
Fordwich ladies extended an
invitation for the Fall Dean-
ery meeting. A sing song led
by Rev.- Daniel Sergeant of
Blyth was enjoyed.
Mrs. Jeannette Aziz, pres-
ident of A.C.W. Diocese of
Huron, London, and also
Mrs. Grace Richings,
A.C.W. communications'sec-
retary, told of the work on
national level. Pakistan em-
broidery was displayed.
The theme "Salt of the
Earth" was' given by Mrs.
Marjean King in form of
question and answer period.
She emphasized the import-
ance of Bible Study.
UNIT 3 LUCKNOW U.C.W.
Thuesday, June 6th, Unit #
3 met in the Fellowship
Room at the church. The
meeting opened with prayer
by Mrs. Cook.
Mrs. Wraith made the
motion that we have the
Blanket. Fund in October,
this was seconded by Mrs.
Jas. Ritchie. She also said
that there was a need for
used eye glasses. The collec-
tion was taken and . there
were four birthdays in June
to add funds to our birthday
jar. Cards were signed for
Mrs. Neil G. MacKenzie and
Mrs. Ada Woods who are
hospitalized.
Units # 1 and # 2 joined
Unit 3 and Mrs. Cook.
welcomed them.. Mrs. Cook
read a poem and turned the
meeting over to Mrs. Bradley
who presided in the absence
of Mrs. Bert Alton. Mrs.
Grace Campbell repeated a
verse: The scripture and
meditation were given by,
Mrs. Elleda Wightman and
the prayer by Mrs. Bradley.
Mrs. Edith Webster gave a
reading. Mrs. Jean Jardine
presented a topic on "God's
in His Heaven all is well with
the World". Mrs. Rice sang,
accompanied by Mrs. Wes
Ritchie.

Mrs. Bradley introduced
Mrs. Kenneth Laidlaw, who
gave an interesting talk on
the Cayman Islands as she
showed slides, Mrs. Cook
thanked Mrs. Laidlaw and
presented her with a gift.
A social time was enjoyed
with a cup of tea.

Maitland Presbyterial for the
first time this year.

stressed the work of prayer

The W.M.S. Senior Auxil-
iary met in the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church on June
7th. Mrs. James Little pres-
ided and opened the meeting
with a verse of scripture and
prayer. Following the open-
ing hymn Mrs. Wm. Reid
read the scripture and medi-
tation.
Mrs. P. Stewart led in
prayer. In response to an
.invitation from Pinecrest
Manor, it was arranged to
put on a musical program
there this month.
Arrangements were made
for the picnic meeting in
July, and an invitation to be
extended to the South Kin-
loss W.M.S. ladies and the
Lucknow United Church lad-
ies. Mrs. Munshaw has been
asked to give the address.
Mrs. Little gave -the offer-
tory prayer. The treasurer
reported that $60.00 had
been sent to the bale fund.
Mrs. Laidlaw gave the
highlights of the Presbyterial
meeting held in Belmore last
month. She made the state-
ment that knowledge of the
Gospel could die out in one
generation if it is not taught.
She announced the Fall Rally
in Wingham in October -and
the Presbyterial will be
held next year in. Brussels.
The Synodical is to be held in
Goderich.
Mrs. C. Brown gave an
interesting study on Mission
Work in the Carribean Is-
lands, where there are four
official languages, Spanish,
English, French and Dutch,
which makes mission work in
the Islands difficult.
Mrs. M. Henderson gave -
the Glad Tidings review, and
Mrs. Loree gave a, quiz on
Bible names.
Mrs. Brooks closed the
meeting with prayer.
TRINITY U.C.W.
Trinity U.C.W. held their
annual Grandmother's meet-
ing on June 8 at the home of
Mrs. Cook. Suzanne Andrew
introduced the topic "Love"
and read the scripture. Mrs.
Shirley Hunter gave the
commentary, "The Winning
Power of Love".
Mrs..Belle. Hackett report-
ed on the Live, Love Project
telling of Knox Community
College in Jamaica, where
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell are.
Mrs. Delbert" Nixon gave a
poem and Mrs. Donna
Campbell gave four different
numbers with her guitar.
Mrs. Wilma Blake gave a
reading and Mrs. Mary Lou
Raynardi .had two musical
numbers.
Mrs. Wilfred Drennan re-
ceived the prize for the oldest
grandmother; Mrs. Allan
Ritchie for the newest grand-
child; Mrs. Donald Hackett
for the youngest grandmoth-
er; Mrs. Warren Zinn for
choosing the lucky letter, and
Mrs. Wm. Andrew for the
lucky number.
The Bible Study was on the
Beatitudes and then Mrs.
Charles Wilkins gave the
Trinity Tattler. A social hour
was enjoyed after the meet-
ing.
and the Dimensions of Dis-
cipleship, the theme used at
Council, in her address. Her
evening topic was "Prepare
and Advance",. -
Mrs. Don Robertson, pres-
ident, - gave the call to
worship followed by devo-
tions given by Mrs. Wes
Tiffin and Mrs. Harvey
Osborne' of Whitechurch. In
memoriam was given by
Mrs. Morgan Henderson of
Lucknow.
Mrs. Ken Dickson wel
comed the ladies and Rev.
Kimble brought greetings
from the Presbytery.
Mrs. Wm. Munshaw of
Lucknow, area educational
consultant, Was introduced
by Mrs. Ken Laidlaw and by
Miss May Nutt, executive
secretary of the W.M.S. of
Western Division.
Mrs. Nugent of Ripley
entertained with tapes she
recorded of the rousing
hymns sung at the Synodical
in Leamington. Reports of

The Women's Institute
had the 4-H girls and their
leaders at the June 1st
meeting which was held in
the hall.
The display of blouses and
the poster made by the girls
for Achievement Day showed
their hard work and interest.
The commentary was given
by Beth Gingrich. The lead-
ers were Mrs. Leonard
Stanley and Mrs. Orrie
Gingrich.
An invitation from Ripley
to their annual Tartan Tea
was accepted. The proceeds
from this will be given ;to the
Kincardine and District Hos-
pital. A donation was given
to the Lucknow Agricultural
Society, and an expression of
thanks was read from Randy
Willock of Walkerton, who
was guest speaker at the
May meeting.
Mrs. Ellwood, Elliott and
Miss Edna Boyle were direc-
tors for this meeting on
World Affairs, and we were
privileged to have as speak-
ers, Mr. Cecil Sutton and
Mr. Charles Lemon who.
represent "Men for Mis-
sions". These men visited
South America last year and
showed most interesting pic-
tures of the people there,
with their primitive way of
living and working with
oxen. They had a display of
needlework, weaving, a
shawl, a 3 piece girls dress, a
tablecloth, several runners
and 2 styles of hats, a cocoa
shell and beans and other
things of interest that they
had brought home with
them.
Mrs. Bill MacPherson
thanked the men for sharing
their trip and pictures and
presented them with a gift
towards their project at
Ecuador.
Mrs. Raynard Ackert led
in two action songs. Miss
Edna Boyle gave a well
prepared motto on Every
privelege carries a respon-
sibility".

- the 4-H girls and their
leaders for coming and
putting on their display and
the two men who had given
an insight as to what this
Interdenominational and In-
ternational organization is
doing to help the people of
Ecuador. Hostesses were
Mrs. Alex Percy and mrs.
Frank Maulden.
the Synodical were given by
Mrs. Ken Laidlaw, Lucknow,
Mrs. Roy MacKay, Wing -
ham, and Mrs. Nugent and
Mrs. D. MacKay, Ripley.
A duet was sung by Mrs.
Alvin Mundell and Mrs.
Bruce Darling. The music of
the Belmore Choir was
enjoyed.
Mrs. Ralph Dickson wel-
comed the ladies to the
evening session. The Moles-
worth group, Mrs. Wm.
Beirnes, Mrs. Howard Baker
and Mrs. Jim Smith gave the
devotions.

given by Mrs. Philip Steer,
South Kinloss; and Mrs. El-
ston of •Bluevale. Courtesies
by Mrs. Louise Matthews,
Gorrie and closing prayers by
Mrs. Ross Cumming, Ripley

SOUTH KINLOSS W.M.S.

Mrs. Ted Collyer was
hostess for the June meeting
of South Kinloss \W.M.S.
held at her home. The
president, Mrs. Philip Steer
presided.
The program in charge of
Mrs. Harold Howald and
Mrs. Clark Needham was as_
follows - reading of poem,
piano music by Mrs. Jack
Needham, also piano num-
bers by the Junior girls,
Tirina Howald, Helen Macln-
tyre and Wendy Forrester.
The bible study, The Life
of Samuel, Mrs. Harold
Howald played the part of
Samuel and Mrs. Clark
Needham conducted a ques-
tion on the life of Samuel.
The offertory prayer was
given by Mrs. Clark Need-
ham. Mrs. Philip Steer gave
an excellent report on the
Presbyterial held in Belmore.
Courtesies were by Mrs.
Harold Howald.
The closing prayer was by
Mrs. Steer. Refreshments
were served by the hostess
and directors Mrs. Harold
Howald and Mrs. Clark
Needham.
