were honoured guests at a
delicious dinner at the Log
Cabin Restaurant by their
family. The occasion was
their forty-fifth wedding an-
niversary. A social evening
followed at the home of their
son and - daughter-in-law,
Robert and Elaine Irwin,
attended by other relatives.
Graeme Elliott of Luck -
now, is a patient in Wingham
and Distrist Hospital. He was
admitted Sunday evening.

a little over a month there.

May was a lovely month at
Pinecrest Manor, with the
grass turning green and the
leaves coming out on the
trees. A garden was planted
on the south side of the
building, and it is fun to
watch 'it grow. The tomato
plants, grown by the resid-
ents over the winter were
transplanted in the garden.
The Christian Reformed
ladies held their monthly
bingo. On May 10 the
Lucknow Catholic Women's
League held their meeting
Pinecrest so residents could
attend, if they wished.
Rev. Wm. Munshaw held
a worship service on Sunday
and the Hendersons assisted
with the . music.
The Chamblers United
Church ladies from Kincard-
ine area presented a pro-
gram.
The Lucknow Kinettes
drove some of the residents
around town to see the
spring flowers and trees in
bloom. •
Dungannon Christian Fel-
lowship Youth Group enter-
tained and the Pentecostal
Church of Kinlough came for
their monthly visit.
Dungannon Women's In-
stitute entertained at the
monthly.birthday party and a
special Highlight was the
playing of bagpipes. Resid-
ents who had birthdays this
month were Elsie Haney -on
May 7, and Mae Miller on
May 21.
The Lucknow "Noisy Lad-, .2
ies" baseball team played
their third game of the
season in Goderich on May
25, 1978 against the Goder-
ich Swingers. Lucknow came
up with a big win with a score
of 35-15. Horne runs were hit
by Sherry Boak with 2, and
Barb Helm and Judy Draper
hitting one each.
The "Noisy Ladies" play-
ed their fourth game on June
1, 1978 in Clinton against the
Clinton Housewives. Luck -
now were defeated by a score
of 9-1.
The next game is schedul-
ed for June 7, 1978 in
Goderich against the Goder-
ich Sailorettes.

Lucknow, won the C.I.L.
trophy for the highest score
in the swine section in .the
Huron County 4-H Livestock
and Field Crops Judging
competition. Gordon also
received first in the Inter-
mediate Division with a score
of 756 out of a possible 850.
He was a runnerup for the
•Cyanamid of Canada Award
for the highest score in the
sheep section.

Shower for
Brenda Bushell
On Monday, May 29th, a
shower was held in the
r--L-ucknow Presbyterian
Church parlour for Miss
Brenda Bushell, prior to her
approaching marriage.
Mrs. Bert Moffat played
several musical numbers as
the crowd gathered. Mrs.
Orville Elliott acted as chair-
4ady. Mrs. Eldon Bradley
read us a summary of
Brenda's life in poetry,
which had been composed by
Mrs. Elliott.
Readings were given by
Mrs. Raynard Ackert, Mrs.
Vernon Hunter, and. Mrs.
Harvey Houston. Contests
by Mrs. Lorne -Eadie- and
Mrs: Eldon 'Bradley. Mrs.
Edward Brown favoured us
with a solo, "Let Me Call
You Sweetheart", accom-
panied by Mrs. Moffat.
Miss Diane Hawthorne,
Miss Karen Elliott, and Mrs.
Shirley Morningstar assisted
Brenda open her gifts. Bren-
da very fittingly thanked
everyone. A social time was
enjoyed with a cup of tea.
Men's Intermediate ball
win first game
Lucknow's Intermediate Fastball team opened their season
last Thursday night in Teeswater. Wayne Todd and Doug
Stevenson slammed home runs to contribute to a 12-4 decisive
victory. Hugh Todd handled the pitching duties.

Johnstone
reunion
About 70 descendants of
James and Mary Ann John-
stone attended their second
annual reunion at Brookside
Public School on Sunday,
May 21st, 1978, Registration
which was at 11 a.m., was
followed by guests renewing
acquaintances and viewing
family pictures and scrap-
books.
After a generous smorgas-
bord meal, the 1978 execu-
tive was introduced by the
president, Mamie Wilkins.
They were: vice president,
Myrtle Johnstone; secretary,
Carol Nivins and treasurer,
Bernice Johnstone.
Door prizes were awarded
to Audrey Wright, Gordon
Johnstone and Beverley
Johnstone. Doreen Szilasi
from Montreal won the prize
for coming the greatest
distance. The birthday clos-
est to the date of the picnic
had been celebrated by Barry
Nivins on May 19th. The
oldest gentleman present
was Peter M. Johnstone,
born in 1896, while 89 year
old Ethel Clark took the prize
for the oldest lady. Ruby
Riach was, the winner of a
contest of guessing the year
that Brookside ' School had
been built. The largest
families present were those
of Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Johnstone and Mr. and Mrs.
Allister, Nivins, each with 6
members. The Johnstone
family received the_ prize.
An enjoyable program was
introduced by Harold John-
stone of Goderich. Elizabeth
Wilkins presented - several
selections on the piano. Ivy
Johnstone read two humor-
ous. pieces.. Hugh Johnstone
sang and Myrtle Johnstone
gave a reading. Some lively
bagpipe music, presented by
Dave MacDonald, was fol-
lowed by a reading by
Bernice Johnstone. All en-

by Anna Johnstone.
- While Jim Hunter and
Hugh Johnstone took the
children outdoors for races
and games, the 1979 execu-
tive was elected as follows:
president, Myrtle Johnstone;
vice president, Eileen Ash-
ton; secretary, Laura Camp-
bell; treasurer, Isobel Hunt-
er. The lunch committee is
Audrey Wright,, Isobel Lind-
say and Ivy Johnstone. Anna
Johnstone and Donny John-
stone are in charge of next
year's program while Murray
and Brian Johnstone are
responsible for games.
The treasurer's report was
given by Bernice Johnstone
and Carol Nivins delivered a
report of last year's picnic.
After many favourable
comments concerning the
picnic were given, it was
decided to hold the third
reunion next year at the
same place and time.
ZIPPY TRINETTES I
Trinity I held their third'
meeting at Mrs. David
Hackett's on May 30.
The , leaders discussed:
vegetables and good health;
food preservation by freez-
ing; and common storage of
fresh vegetables. The discus-
"siori questions were answer-
ed.
The girls used asparagus
and rhubarb as our vegetable
and fruit for freezing prepar-
ations, and learned how to
blanch vegetables..
gveryone tasted a bowl of
rhubarb sauce.
