Holyrood Happenings BY LYNNE NICOLSON "A column from Holy - rood", you \ ask. Yes, and from now on I am going to try and dig up enough informa- tion from this little village of just over twenty inhabitants and familiesfrom the sur- rounding vicinity to make a weekly news column for the local .newspaper. So as I begin, I hope with all my heart that this will be as enjoyable to read as it is to write. To start things off, a few Holyroodonians were lucky enough to view the Northern Lights or if you want to get technical, the aurora boreal- is. They were not out in their usual array of bright colours but appeared only in white. It is believed that this spectacle is caused by a collision of sun particles and gases from the upper atmosphere. (that was your science lesson for the day). The weather this week in Holyrood has been some- thing else, as I am sure it has been in many places. First, those almost unbearably hot days, then rain at night, now we are experiencing- cold weather which many of us thought would only last a day or two but obviously not. Right now it looks like rain again. Fortunately it didn't rain on Saturday, June 3 when some of the Grade 8 students of Lucknow Public School from this area participated in their school carwash. Al- though some were washed more than the cars, fun was had by all. The ,proceeds go towards paying for their Graduation Banquet,. Speaking of carwashes, the Kinloss YC's will be holding a carwash in Holy- roodr'at the Township Shed, this month. Proceeds will go towards ball equipment for the baseball teams. Many people have noticed unpleasantly as they come speeding down Bruce Road 1, that they must slow down considerably at Holyrood if they still want to have anything that resembles a car when they get to Kin - lough. Others , realize the situation and take a "detour. The problem? Our county is repairing the stretch of road between Holyrood and Kin - lough. It is proving to be a hassle at the moment but I think many people and their cars will be thankful when it is completed.
