Rod McDonagh, Leo Advisor, biked to Nile where he manned the pft stop for the Leo
Bike-a-thon on Sunday. The 26 bikers who participated were served barbecued
hamburgers and hot dogs and cold drinks before they made the second haff of the hip. Since
time was not an element as the bike-a-thon was not a race, Rod finished his second half of the
course after acting as pit crew.

raises $1,150
• The Lucknow District Leo Club raised $1,150 when 26
people participated in the Leo Bike-a-thon on Sunday,
May 28: Top money earner was biker, Julie Le Blanc
whose pledges raised $172. She wins $25 while Tracey
McDonagh and Sharon Struthers win $15 and. $10
respectively for their second anti third place money
earning.
Twenty-four of the cyclists finished the 40 kilometre
course which ran from the Lucknow Arena to the Nile
and back to the arena.
Members otthe Leo Club had a bar-be-queset up at
the Nile where bikers could rest and enjoy a hot dog or
hamburger with a cold drink before starting the trip
back. A pop stop at Glenn's .Hill provided refreshment
along the route.
By a previous pledge, 75% of the money raised will
go towards the purchase of new, roller skates for the
Lucknow Recreation Committee.
Those cycling in the Bike-a-thon were Nancy
Thompson, Colleen Adams, Dianne - Kerr, Tom
Downey, Don Peterson, Dorothy Martin,, Karen
Metzger, Sandy Watson, Marlene Struthers, Sharon
Struthers, Tracey McDonagh, Nancy Moran, Peter
Chisholm, Julie Le Blanc,, Debra Arnold, Jacky
Beasley, Uppinder Mehan, Sandra Robb, Joanne
Agnew, John De Bruyn, Fred Martin, Ken Metzger,
Howard Martin, Gerald Martin, Joanne Culbert and
Rod McDonagh.

It was a long uphill climb in some places along the 40 kilometre course of the Leo Bike-a-thon
on Sunday and cyclipts, Dianne Kerr, left, and Sandra Robb, behind,
believe in energy
conservation.
Tracey McDonagh and Sharon Sttuthero make a pop stop at Glenn's Hill while biking to the
Nile. The two girls placed second and third respectively for their -money earned in pledges.
Joe Van Doyen and Wayne McDonagh served the cold drinks to the thirsty bikers.
Dorothy Martin rubs a sore foot which was injured in a four
bike wipe ,..out during the-Iteo Ilikeas.a.thon on Sunday.
Despite her sore foot and scraped knees, Dorothy finished
the 40 kilometre course after a rest and a cold drink at the
halfway ,mark at Nile.
